According to the datasheet, this TI chip digitizes the analog input. Wonder why it is used, whereas there are many SPDIF receiver (digital front-end) chips without ADC - if this claim is true:
Do you use the Node as a transport in the same setup as WiiM in your signature? Ie optical out into your Roksan? And if yes, there is such a drastic sound difference between these two digital transports?
Ok, thanks. I thought I missed the PSU comparison. Maybe someday, when you have time, this never-ending argument could be put to rest (at least in the case of WiiMs with external PSUs) 😉
Hi onlyoneme. Could you kindly remind in which thread/test batch you compared power supplies in your (very telling) jitter tests with jitter correction off?
Using the SMSL PO100 can give you at least a peace of mind that there is nothing in its measured performance that may reasonably affect the sound reproduces by the DAC in your device downstream (the DAC chip of which of course is used in this scenario). But the suggestion to order a few of these...
I second this recommendation. PO100 was measured by Vintageflanker @ ASR and showed solid results. I own one for exactly the same purposes: streaming Hi-Res Apple music via my ProPlus into my system
One might try Toslink to USB converter to get the digital signal out of Ultra into a DAW (computer audio). Like this one

Notice that even the noise floor with the Pro is significantly higher at 192 compared to 48. Was there a difference in test conditions? If not, this might as well be due to higher processor load involved at higher bitrate.
Well, let’s just say this is rather academical :) and was more or less addressed to OP. But take a look at the first pics in the thread 'My Ultra tests' . The digital output signal graphs (measured with a scope) look much more accurate for Ultra, but once you measure actual jitter spectrum of...
Another interesting observation is that a significantly more accurate SPDIF eye pattern with Ultra vs Pro does not translate into a significantly better jitter spectrum in this setup
