Tech Tuesday: Deep Dive into Room Correction

I have tried room correction in various ways with highly variable results. However the attached screen grab shows my latest attempt. It was achieved by taking three measurements for left and right, the first in the sweet spot, the second 30cm to the left and the third 30cm to the right...

    Room correction improvement suggestions

A further question for wiim. Please could we have a clear set of instructions describing how to take room correction measurements for L/R, multiple measurements, etc. Trying to fully understand room correction requires one has to look at a large number of posts with some contradicting others.

    Room correction improvement suggestions

Hi, a simple question about room correction. Can crossovers be removed from speakers and room correction be used to perform the role of crossovers as well as correct for unwanted room effects?

BBC Radio BBC Radio HLS streams

As I wrote in another section, BBC radio station can be recovered by retuning them in the music services pane of the browse section of the wiim app and re-assigning them to my presets.

    BBC Radio Streams gone?

I, too, had bbc 4 and bbc 3 reception problems. The presets for these two stations no longer worked. However, after retuning these stations using the bbc radio button in the music services section of the browsing pane and re-assigning them to my presets, they now function correctly. I had a...

    Room Correction... I like it!

Hi, I posted this on a different stream but I am not sure it is the right one so here it is again. I used the wiim amp, with my iphone 11 pro, to correct my room characteristics with the following result. I used a range of 30-4000Hz. Why does the curve rise so much above 4k?

    Room correction

Hi, I have used the wiim amp room correction with the following results. What I would like to know is why the levels of frequencies above 4K are so elevated? I set the range of correction to 30-4000Hz.

Airplay 2 : Wiim Pro Plus vs Wiim Amp

For me, no airplay in amp pro, and ultra, is a deal breaker. By not having airplay, wiim has, in my opinion, shot itself in the foot.

    Room Correction... I like it!

In all this use of room correction to rectify room idiosyncrasies, I have been amazed at just how the correction can vary from place to place. A shift of 15cm can have a dramatic effect. Also, the frequency curve is more irregular the closer to a wall one takes the measurements.

    Room correction

I don't have a subwoofer. If I repeat rc a number of times the results are quite similar. I will try narrowing the frequency range. I find it difficult to decide which is better. My manual adjustment is having an effect. This can easily heard listening to white noise and switching RC on and off.

    Room correction

The gain was less than the 12db permitted, and I can manually increase the equalisation to further reduce the trough.

    Room correction

Hi, perhaps someone can explain how room correction works. Correct me if I’m wrong but it is my understanding that the equalisation should be, to a first approximation, the mirror image of the measured curve, so that the peaks and troughs cancel each other to yield a smooth curve. If this is the...

    Difference between WiFi and Ethernet

If the ethernet is disconnected, transfer can take place by wi-fi. If ethernet is connected the amp either automatically opts for transfer by ethernet or it can be selected manually.

    Difference between WiFi and Ethernet

If I have an alac file of cd quality on my laptop, I can send it to my wiim amp either using an ethernet cable, or via wi-fi. If I send via wi-fi, airplay may compress the file.
