Are you using WiFi or wired ethernet with your ultra?!
+ How are you powering the DDC and the DAC?! 🤔
alright lads... i think we should focus more on what unites us than what divides us in threads like this. let's be real - this is the WiiM forums, not some other random tribal corner of the internet that we've all experienced here and there. what unites us all is the appreciation for...
appreciate you sharing your experiences. 🙏 and i agree with you about the limitations of our current measurements and even our general understanding of hearing and audio reproduction.
that's what i would do in your situation. but you could still use the Ultra somehow in your multiroom setup? or media centre hub - near your TV like many others do...
for critical listening and the best streaming-only/digital transport performance, imo the Pro is the best WiiM. it has the least...
@A64 have you looked into wireless sub transmitter/reciever combos??
e.g.: SVS soundpath wireless - https://www.svsound.com/products/soundpath-wireless-audio-adapter (there's also a tri-band version i think)
or https://dynastyproaudio.com/products/wsa-5tr-v2
or...
It's unlikely. Given the cost of implementing a proper low noise linear power supply - it's not feasible to fit that into a device that is priced the way an ultra is. 🤷♂️
Even a good low noise SMPS would be difficult to include given the cost constraints.
This is why I prefer electronics...
Nice! Fair play on the whole DIY thing. 👌Sounds like a lot of fun...
That is a pretty cool setup. And you've nailed the use case for the ultra. How far along are you as far as getting the pieces together?! 🤔
Just curious if you've compared the DACs in the setup? Which one sounded best?!
There was a fire at the AKM factory a couple of years ago that massively disrupted their operations...
I think they are back to normal now but over the past couple of years many manufacturers switched to ESS or TI chips. Even for older products that had AKM chips originally.
also re: auracast. you would need to get separate headphones as well, because it's not backwards compatible with older hardware. and there just aren't many options yet either...
the best solution for you right now would probably be one of those airplane bluetooth transmitter things with dual...
at the moment i'm considering a geshelli j2s or a chord mojo 2. both very different but cool imo. prob don't need either, but that's how it goes sometimes
heard the original mojo in my active speaker setup and despite the speakers doing their own ADC then DSP before DAC to the amps, it sounded...
i hear a lot about the geshelli products, and i like their style. offering all the cistomisation so people can experiment and hear differences even between opamps is a big plus for the community. 👏 did you try any other opamps in it? also am curious how badly the j3 destroys other DACs you've...
