Initially the TV app running on my Nvidia Shield didn't show any devices. The Shield and all my WiiM's - except Mini (obviously) - are connected to the same network by Ethernet.
I tried it on a generic Android TV box which co-incidentally was only connected by WiFi and it worked. So switched on...
Yes, works perfectly.
You should here a click (internally) when the ZA3's are triggered on/off but certainly not a 'pop' or anything audible through the speakers.
I think the silver version looks awful with the lighter front panel and white buttons, the black one that I got isn't so bad. One other design 'quirk' is that the headphone jack is on the back panel, though not an issue in my case as I use the Topping for headphones.
Mine arrived this morning. Still not a fan of the fascia but it doesn't look quite so bad in real life. It's an otherwise surprisingly weighty and apparantly well built device, and it's size fits nicely into my WiiM Amp based 'KallaxFi' setup. On initial testing it sounds good too.
All set up now, pleased to confirm that the Ultra connected via splitter cable (link in my earlier post) to 2 ZA3's triggers both on and off successfully.
Good to hear.
A little research revealed that Fosi Audio actually have an FAQ about triggering two ZA3's from their ZD3 DAC/preamp and show a splitter cable as the solution. On the assumption that the Ultra will work in a similar way I ordered a cable which will be delivered today.
I was aware...
Thinking of adding a second Fosi Audio ZA3 amp to run in dual mono mode.
My Ultra currently triggers the single ZA3 I have, but is it possible to use a 'splitter cable' to trigger both amps, ie single 3.5mm from Ultra to 2x 3.5mm, one to each ZA3.
Anyone running such a configuration?
Although I have no use-case for this (I have a Windows 10 mini PC with digital out capable external sound card connected to my AMP), I was intrigued, so have just given it a try with my Microsoft Surface Laptop Go running Windows 11 v24H2.
It worked straight away and Windows recognises the AMP...
The Denon DCD-50 CD player is an almost perfect match for the (silver) Ultra. It does require an output convertor though to use the Ultra DAC as the Denon only has a coaxial digital output.
Unfortunately the DCD-50 is a discontinued model now but can still be picked up secondhand.
