Apart from whatever legalese might prevent streaming services from making USB audio available, the limits of whatever OS is supporting the application, strategic decisions about streamer manufacturers offering it or not, and the programming expertise of the app developers, USB audio has been...
If WIIM thought that volume control on USB output was an important differentiator, I would strongly encourage them to say more (something?) about it through the communication means they have. YouTubers are fine for what they offer but this doesn't fall to them. The first I'm learning about how...
I don't want to dump on WIIM but there were a few cumulative negative experiences that turned me off from the start.
The device software (weird settings layout and my own difficulty navigating, a few too many 'coming soon' items, and some glitchy behavior overall) didn't feel quite ready for...
I parted ways with the Ultra to try the Bluesound Nano. One issue with the Nano that surprised me was the USB out doesn't offer volume control. Thinking back, I'm pretty sure that the volume of USB out on the Ultra can be adjusted. Can anyone confirm?
Thanks very much! That did it.
Although I would add that I also had to power cycle the Ultra and even then the USB wasn't selectable until I actually played a song and used the output selector at the bottom of the song page in the app (I'm using Amazon Music, if that matters). VERY specific...
I'm not seeing anything mentioned about USB Out in the firmware logs

Thanks. If that's the case, any thoughts on how to force an update? My Ultra doesn't think there's a new one available. I'm familiar with the sequence that Terry suggested above.
Received my Ultra over the weekend and within hours submitted my request to join the USB Output Beta Test group. I'm checking email hourly. I don't know how I misread the pre-release communication about USB Out functionality being a roadmap item, not an out of box feature.

I'm concerned that
- Darko missed USB when he ran down the list of output options. He's human but isn't known for his mistakes. Please tell me it really was a miss.
- the room correction requires an iPhone. I get that there...
Thanks for that insight. Reading a few other sources confirms it's a fairly complex topic in terms of what's audible.
I've noticed that keeping my external DAC at max volume and controlling the overall system volume via my WiiM Pro produces obvious, far better results than the other way around...
I'd like to better understand how/why adjusting the volume on a Pro compromises the bit perfect aspect of the stream. Any additional info would be appreciated.
