thanks so much for doing this.
I’m a beginner and am not super great at reading all of these graphs yet. The coaxial output looks to not be great for the ultra. Is that right?
Any idea how that would compare to the ultra usb out or toslink out? Obviously would take more tests but was...
Sorry, I meant that the news that other outputs would work with the sub out wasn’t applicable for the amp since the amp doesn’t have other outputs other than speaker terminals.
Just got a new update (basically not applicable for amp though since there is no out other than speaker terminals):
We apologize for the inconvenience.
After speaking with our engineers, I have learned that USB output does not support being used with sub output at the same time. However, wired...
Just got an email back from Wiim. See below. Kind of unfortunate for the ultra too if you were planning on an external DAC and sub management.
“Sorry, WiiM devices are designed to support only one output at a time.”
Any word on usb out playing at the same time as sub out? I just received the beta version and usb out is working great on my end for my mains, but no sub out yet as far as I can tell. Haven’t played with EQ yet, but seems other folks have confirmed it is working on their end for their mains.
You’re probably right and I’m probably overthinking it. Was thinking it might be beneficial to have control over eqp for each sub (rather than it being the same for both). I’m likely setting up my duals right next to my mains, so timing should be the same for each anyways.
Could you use the sub out with a y splitter, connect each end to two inputs on an old minidsp, and use minidsp for sub management for dual subs? Then, could the WiiM still control the PEQ for the mains? Sorry, I’m new to dual subs and subs management generally so this may be a dumb question…...
Awesome, thanks for laying out your thought process and presenting several options. I’m trying to do some more reading to see if I can get comfortable with the wiim ultra/fosi monoblock pairing (this audio world with all the numbers gets confusing haha). If I don’t get there, I am leaning...
So if I used an rca to xlr cable, would I get 4 or 2 volts?
If it’s not fully balanced even I did use full xlr, is the lower noise (higher sinad) measurement due to higher voltage?
This is probably a series of eye roll questions and I’m sorry in advance… still learning the ropes in audio world!
I used to have a wiim pro plus connected to my topping e70 velvet Dac via coslink and then from there to my active desktop speakers (kali l6, v2) using xlr cables. I loved the...
