Same here. And it is a good idea to wait until the selected device plays (no skipping, selecting another song, ...). Otherwise the WHA whats playing screen gets totaly out of sync with the selected device. Can anybody confirm this behaviour?

I think you may test the suggestion of Mr Ee. Just set a fixed output volume at the Pro Plus and control the volume at the Amp pro. Stream your music via Airplay to the Pro Plus.

"... just that WiFi is a catch ..." may be not obvious for an enduser playing flac files from usb input. 😉

I suggest a short status and latest version info for each beta on the roadmap. Something like no resources, working on, blocked by issue, abandoned, ...

Afaik all WiiM devices can be grouped with Echo speakers. You should be able to group an Echo Plus 2gen with one (or all) of your WiiM devices and stream the same music to that group. No need for an additional device.
