Powering WiiM Pro Plus with a power bank

Interesting theory. 'The only thing..' How can you prove you are not fooling yourself? 😁 Bud, it doesn't really matter if it's real or not. If you like it, you like it. No one can experience what you experience. No one can deny your experience. You'll have to get used to uncertainty...

Powering WiiM Pro Plus with a power bank

Yes, he insisted that for a long time. Can only think that the conditions under which he was testing it didn't show much benefit. My phonostage, which is fairly old now, Dynavector P75, used a wall wart and they always claimed that an improved power supply wouldn't make any difference. Not my...

Powering WiiM Pro Plus with a power bank

I know this is a year ago but I was just wondering if you still felt this way about attention to power and it's effect on sound quality? If you come across the thoughts of designers you'll often hear them talk about how they manage power within their products. Do a search for Rob Watts, who's...

    Mains hum - earthing?

I know no one probably cares but I made a boo boo in that last sentence. Should be earth ground, which is also recommended in that manual excerpt above. 👍

    Mains hum - earthing?

I know you've sorted this but I wanted to let you know that I have an Ultra into a Nait 5i and it's absolutely fine. Naim are very sensitive to signal grounding, there will be something in the Nait 50s manual about it no doubt. I've found you can elimate most issues by having the whole system...

    WiiM Pro optical ground loop

Don't forget the signal cable to the sub. They can easily create ground loops and more expensive sub cables usually have a grounding lead on them.

    WiiM Pro optical ground loop

The important thing is that the hifi ties back to one ground, not necessarily the other stuff in the circuit.

    WiiM Pro optical ground loop

A subwoofer! Where's that plugged into is it the same outlet as the rest of the Hi-Fi gear or a different one. Take it out of the loop by unplugging from the electricity and signal.

    WiiM Pro optical ground loop

Yeah, if the WiiM is connected via optical it's not that connection. You need to look at where the components are electrically connected and that sounds like that plug adapter. Maybe swap it out? The noise goes away when you take the power out of the WiiM?

What external DAC to improve the Ultra?

Hi Neoark The Mojo2 is very good and versatile. The user interface has a bit of a learning curve and frustrates some people. I have tried all inputs on the Mojo2 and the differences between them is subtle. I would choose which to use depending on the system. For example. Use USB if the...
