Really great speakers. A nice amp with do them justice. Also take a look at amps from Rega, Naim and Creek if you can...

I've got both the Pro and Ultra, used as streamers into a DAC. They sound near identical to me coax or optical, with the Ultra pulling ahead via USB. Personally I wouldn't upgrade for sound but the Ultra looks better and has some neat features.

Thanks a lot Ryan. That was really interesting. Do you think there will possibly be a way to lock the volume of the Vibe when using the Ultra and avoid any 'mistakes'?

Couple of questions folks. The 12V trigger on the Vibe will allow it to be powered up by an Ultra? If wish to use the remote (volume) and streaming features of the Ultra and the better DAC in the Vibe, how would you go about that?

One of the problems with using the Vibe with an Ultra as the preamp (which makes sense if you wish to use sub, remote, room correction, turntable, etc) is that you have two preamps in the circuit. That's not ideal and best avoided. I think we may be getting a bit confused because of the way...

That's pretty much what i am saying. I just find it confusing. The perfect Ultra partner would just be a power amp. Stand alone the Vibe would be more compelling (to me anyway) with remote. Sound quality trumps ALL those considerations mind. Fingers crossed it a goody.
