I got a Cambridge DACMagic 200M. Got lucky and bought it for $250 new. I also have a Topping D50S. Both sound similar but the Cambridge has a little better instrument separation when playing classical and jazz music with my set up.
A $329 device against a $1000 device? Why? You’re better off upgrading your speakers.
WiiM is the best budget music streamer. Add a good external DAC, good amp, good speakers and you’re set.
Your expectations were too high for a $329 device. If you’ve got a WiiM + external DAC I wouldn’t recommend buying the ultra. Only reason to buy the ultra is for the subwoofer output.
Ive used both Room and Audirvāna and they just are a nice user interface. I think they provide a good service if you’ve got a large music library and don’t do much streaming.
I usually put music on and forget about. So the nice looking interface doesn’t really work for me.
So, it appears YouTuber Scientific Audiophile has found channel separation issues with the WiiM Amp and now some background noise with the WiiM Pro Plus.
However, if you use an external DAC you don’t have anything to worry about.
