And no offense to the Ultra as it’s very fine, but I just need a budget streamer with a coax and USB output without the DAC, screen, and all the inputs.
I just finished a round of testing with coax from the Pro and USB from the Ultra both feeding my Pontus II DAC. No EQ or room correction and fixed volume on both WiiMs. Using the same tracks from Qobuz hires feeding Focal Clear headphones.
I can absolutely tell the USB from the Ultra sounds...

I mean, seems like such a minor quibble but hey, what matters to each of us varies. I’ve never even noticed it was a problem. What’s interesting is if you play an album through where the songs fade into each other like a live album or Floyd, there’s no delay on the next track right?
Track latency? That’s called network downloading. Qobuz HiRes tracks are huge files. I don’t have this issue though. A new track will start within seconds of clicking it. You may want to check your internet speeds and make sure you’re using LAN and not WiFi.
All I can say is the USB out of the Ultra sounds much better then the coax or optical out of the Pro feeding the same DAC. I haven’t compared USB vs Optical/Coax out of the Ultra yet but since my DAC does USB, I see no reason to try. With USB to a high quality DAC, the DAC does the clocking...
