If you are serious about room correction and measurement, you will soon discover there are way better techniques than a making a singles sweep with mic in one position. You dont even need to buy HouseCurve (one alternative on Android is AdioTools) - REW is free software on Windows and Mac.
I think I have found a workaround:
1) on my phone's Modes and Routines automatically enable wifi hotspot, when i connect to Android Auto
2) use HTTP Api commands, to change Wiim Mini presets.
This eliminates need for second phone.
Now i just need to find api command for changing presets and...
I did check excel graphs, and seems they only prove that 40..3000 hz range is fine for most measurement mics. Still, would be nice to have calibration file upload feature in Wiim.
Seems that i will stick to the second phone. Already had it in a car for my old DSP for 4 years..
Any chance Wiim will make new feature in Mini, so that + - buttons can be used for switching presets? :)
Just bought my second Wiim, Mini for car audio use. Not sure how buttons work, is it possible to select/change presets with Mini buttons?
I am using my phone as Wifi Hotspot, so i cannot access Wiim Home application.
DAYTON AUDIO IMM-6C Measurement Microphone USB-C for Android / iOS Smartphones and Tablets.
Works with Wiim RC and also can be used with REW on PC. Also you may want an UBC-C female extender cable.
Here are my calibration files. SoundID mic has also profiles for 30 and 90 degrees.
I would say for room correction (default range 40Hz - 4kHz) they can be used as is, no matter how you point them.
Here we are measuring stereo, not single individual speaker. What good 0 degree calibration file will do, if you point mic at 30 degree angle from speakers anyway? Or this is negligible?
Anyway, I agree that importing calibration file should be implemented, RC is such a powerfull tool.
I still...
I have imm6c usb mic, and calibration file is almost flat from 40-10k Hz, with -4dB at the ends (20Hz and 20kHz).
Same with SoundID Reference mic, it is flat from 20-10kHz.
So missing calibration file will most likely not an issue. Positioning your mic just few inches away will affect your...
What do you compare with? Is network source is the same?
AVR has different sound modes, even stereo has room correction and bass management (more bass usually should sound better for average listener). Too many variables.
But in general, AVR is your weakest link, no matter what your audio source...
To get best audio from my wiim i use av switch box, to bipass my av reciever. No need to turn on tv to listen to the music. Wiim->dac->switch->dsp->amp->speakers
Tv->Reciever->switch->dsp->amp->speakers
I doubt you will hear any difference, just a better expierience using wiim streaming app and...
