It seems I can't edit my previous post : Please discard my previous comment, I think this is rather the Mojo 2 "white noise issue", so for now I assume the Wiim is not the one to blame here.
I think this just happened to me with a Chord Mojo 2 through USB-C, while playing web radio at low volume. God that scared me, and I was not even in the room when that happened, it took me a couple of seconds to understand what was happening. No speaker damage fortunately it seems. I switched to...
I did some more tests :
Wiim pro toslink : same pops every time the resolution change. No issue with fixed resolution
Wiim ultra toslink or coax : no more pops between track changes if setting forced to lowest resolution, but still pops when going in or out of sleep.
Wiim ultra usb : twice more...
I think I have the exact same issue with SMSL SU-1 and ultra. Every time I change radio preset with different resolution there's 1 or 2 small pops in both speakers. Same pops when starting to play local files with different resolutions. And pops also when going in or out of sleep state. Same on...
Ultra coming in tomorrow. Please tell me you don't have that stupid confirmation popping up when using remote to change input !? I need a one push input switch.
Does anyone know if RC for individual channels functionality takes into account the relative output level of L&R speakers and adjust EQ to make sure they are leveled at MIC position ? That's the only benefit I can think of compared to making left and right balance trick with th existing stereo...
I experienced the exact same on the optical in (TV as source), a few times actually. Switching to another source and back to optical seemed to cure it each time. Looks like a bug.
I don't get why trigger off is set to 5 minutes rather than sync'ing it with Wiim's standby. That doesn't make sens to me, but maybe I'm missing some use cases.
Yes, I'm only using digital out to external DAC.
Wiim's volume change is synchronised with Wiim's source change through a fairly complex setup with Logitech harmony sending commands to Home Assistant (emulated roku) translating into http API commands to Wiim. Very reliable but quite a mess to...
I set 100% digital volume for optical in and 80% volume for Ethernet/Wifi source.
You shouldn't loose much quality in using Wiim's digital volume, if any.
