I only use Amazon U music and I have the keep playing something setting on. With the Pixel tablet as soon as the DAC is off, it pauses the track so I'm confident I haven't left something streaming. When I switch off for the night, I just turn off the DAC + amps, I don't have to pause the app...
I returned my Wiim Pro, not because it wasn't a good device and not specifically because of the weird status light - I turned it off because in my dimly lit listening room it was blindingly bright - but that left me not knowing if it was on or off.
I got the Wiim to replace a Pixel tablet...
No it isn't.
The Wiim app acts like a remote control for the Wiim Pro, once it's playing you can close the app and it continues to play. If you cast from a phone, the casting app is sending the stream to the Pro, closing the app terminates the connection and then the music stops.
I don't want to cast from my phone, I want to run Amazon music on the Wiim and control it from my phone, which I can do but to pause the music when the Wiim app isn't running I need to find the remote.
I can see the Wiim device in Google home and I can even adjust the volume but nothing else.
I can turn on a wi-fi light bulb which doesn't have a mic. Even if it only supports play and resume that would be better than nothing.
I replaced a Pixel tablet (USB connected to DAC) with the Wiim because I wanted to be able to choose my music from my phone, which works great but I really miss...
What is stopping Wiim making their devices comply with 'works with Google'?
I too was confused when I first got a Pro. I think it should be made clearer that the voice assistants only work when casting to the Wiim. Pretty disappointed.
