The reco from @Burnside is probably best.
I've tested with the UMIK and compared against newer Pixel and older iPhone mics.
The UMIK outperformed both, but made a much more marginal difference than using stereo correction or selecting the correct target curve, for example. Certainly well...
Radio Stations, yes.
Guessing no for guest DJ and Sonic adventure. I've used the former once, which was cool, but latter I have not - I liked sonic sage while tidal was still integrated.
Plex definitely seems strapped for resources much of the time. Their client support list is outrageously long and their product development has been shifting away from power users to more explicit revenue generation.
I need to be in the WiiM app to link additional rooms, anyway, so no big...
I must say, the Plex source UI via the WiiM app has come a long way since its launch and navigates damn well. Additionally, play data is now sent back to your server / scrobbled.
At this point it is very close to a full replacement for Plexamp.
Very cool update. With RC now available on the Mini I was able to upload calibration and run correction in my bedroom with no issue this morning. Very nice to have individual channel EQ available on those devices now.
@JeffW you make a great point. I often audition records on a friend's server before deciding I want to add it to my own. It's one of if the nice social features of Plex. Right now I have to use Plexamp for this and am then hamstrung by Chromecast.
A power-user feature, for sure.
Personally, I had no indication that the UMIK was being used in the (Android) WiiM app. I jumped into a voice recording app and tapped first on my phone and then the UMIK and it was clear the UMIK was being used.
My assumption is that it was used by the WiiM RC as well because the resultant EQ...
Just tried out my new UMIK-1 gift with the updated L/R RC. Very impressed with the results, it sounds significantly better than the Mono RC using iPhone or Android mics.
Only wish I could edit the target curve.
My left speaker is ~4 feet from a corner while my right is far from any sidewall. RC pulled significant low frequencies from the left channel and boosted them on the right.
This makes sense to me, as the in-room response should do exactly the inverse for each.
A couple years back when I...
Just tried RC using independent L/R channels and using the UMIK-1 I was gifted for xmas.
Fantastic. Multi-channel correction is a major step up, at least in an asymmetrical room. Especially apparent under 100Hz.
Not sure how much is UMIK and how much is multi-channel, but I'm I believer...
Android user here. I didn't opt into the beta, myself, although Plex is my main source for listening.
Interestingly I noticed that "Plex (beta)" is now an option in the Music Services for my WiiM minis. It is not available for any of my WiiM Pros.
I'd there a slow rollout going on?
