Agreed - the playlist functionality on the Wiim Home App at this point is very very minimal.
For myself, I will continue to use this SQL method to make or change playlists and then put them on the usb stick directly because I am comfortable with that. And I really prefer to just use the Wiim...
Yes - If I open up VLC on my Mac and point it to my Wiim UPnP server, I can easily make playlists and then then entries look like this
#EXTINF:342,Bob Dylan - Tangled Up In Blue
http://192.168.0.100:8200/MediaItems/866.flac
(and maybe they would look differently if I made them using different...
(I am not a networking expert but) That makes sense - the "192.168" IP of my amp has not changed since I first set it up. When I touch "Browse" then "Home Music Share" I see a little message that says "Available Media Server on TP-LINK_580A network" and it finds both the server on the Wiim and...
If Foobar can export your playlists to M3U, you may only have to change the path from whatever it is now to "/media/sda1/" (which is what the WIim uses) and then the rest of your current path, (and maybe change all the backslashes to forward slashes). e.g.
#EXTINF:0,Blood On The Tracks - Bob...
I wish I had a suggestion, @Inertiaman ; since I switched from FAT32 and ALAC to NTFS and FLAC, I have had no issues at all. I have removed the USB stick a few times to add music to it and then reinsert it and the re-indexing went very fast for my 5000 tracks. (usb stick is a generic one from...
On the app, when I choose "Home Music Share", I see my "Media Server" (USB stick) and I also see "Bookmarks" and if I tap on it, it says "Press the (star icon) to add bookmarks associated to your media library." But I can't see the "star icon" anywhere when I am browsing or playing music from...
My generic USB 3.1 stick formatted as NTFS with FLAC files has been rock solid - not disappearing from the app at all. And - @jeromeof - I did grab files.db from the Wiim_Cache folder and used an app called "DB Browser for SQLite" to make some playlists using this query that I found on github...
@Inertiaman - my setup with NTFS and FLAC files has now been stable for more than 2 days ; I have a lot less files that you do though (less than 5000) ; I have not seen USB drop off the app at all ; it sounds like they are actively testing scenarios with up to 100K files - not sure about that though
My speakers are the Gallo Acoustics Nucleus Solo model from about 1997 (my profile pic). I had been driving them with a small single-input amp from Virtue Audio (using a Tripath chip). I also had a very beefy external power supply. I agree totally with this comment from @Woody - "The convenience...
I have now switched to NTFS and FLAC (although Wiim Support said ALAC should work just fine). Ok so far - the source has not disappeared from the app. In my ticket, they said the first thing to do if that happens is to remove the USB drive and reinsert it. So - I'll see how it goes.
App...
Interesting - this time when USB disappeared from the app, I tried VLC again - worked fine. But USB is still gone on the app. So I don't know what that means - some kind of problem with the app ? Not sure. The MiniDLNA server itself is clearly working just fine right now. And if I use the app to...
http://192.168.0.100:8200/status did work (I looked up the port number for MiniDLNA) ; it says "LinkplayDLNA status" at the top and has a simple table for "Media library" which says
Audio files 4828
Video files 0
Image files 0
and there is another table for "Connected clients" and...
That certainly makes sense. One issue is that the problem seems oddly intermittent. So it may not show up for a few hours or even a day. I did already save them all locally as FLAC files but that didn't take much time. And I now have software that will write to either NTFS or EXT4 drives from my...
