I still have one S1 device (Connect) which has a WiiM Pro-Plus connected into it, and 6 other S2 speakers. I have a WiiM Pro connected into my Amazon Echo Studio (which sounds amazing to me), and another WiiM Pro connected into my Denon AVR. I was trying to prevent multiple ecosystems, but that...
@pieterv1 - I ***might*** see what you’re saying now about the Plex(amp) endpoint (I see that Sonos and Google Cast are supported from Plexamp app which works with casting to my Pro/Pro-Plus since they have Chromecast built-in) - I’m sure I’m still missing something here though with what ya’ll...
@holsen - I am so happy to hear you got it working 🍻
I was re-reading again your earlier posts and if you’re curious (and maybe this isn’t related at all to your post above), I did a write-up a long long time ago about sync delays with Sonos and WiiM - the above post reminded me of it...
Sorry guys - I think I’m asking in the wrong thread and introducing confusion! I have a Plex Pass, but my remote Plex users do not. I also don’t have an Amp (but I have Pro and Pro-Plus and just assumed they all work the same with Plex integration). I was hoping a WiiM unit can be used at my...
That’s a good point - 2 are WiFi (Pro and Pro-Plus) and 1 is Ethernet (Pro). I also have a mesh WiFi network (Deco) which works extremely well compared to my old mesh network (SmartThings WiFi mesh) which gave me constant problems with my Sonos speakers. The Deco cleaned everything up for me and...
Okay - I’ll leave my post as-is in case it helps anyone else (because I was super-frustrated at the beginning of this journey as well back in the day).
The only other thing I’ll mention/suggest (and I’m sure you’ve done this) is to factory reset your WiiMs and go through the setup process again...
What’s interesting is that Sonos allows you to connect to Plex remote servers (my Plex users do that and it works). So I don’t know why this wouldn’t work for WiiM since it seems like a very similar integration as it stands today 🤔
That sounds like a decent workaround, along with using the WiiM Home app on Apple TV (to display what you’re playing since the Plex app will soon remove music libraries like they did on the iOS apps). Trying to figure out an alternative solution for when this dark day comes!
Hi - I don’t mean to over-simplify your issue, but will share my experience as a lifetime Roon user with a lesson I learned early on with the WiiM integration with Roon - and please ignore me if I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about and completely missing the point. 🙃 I’ve had the WiiMs...
I was able to download and install on my Apple TV 4K (1st gen and 3rd gen) boxes no problem. Which Apple TV do yo have?
The app works great:
SiriusXM app for comparison:
What’s funny is that the WiiM remote is the most basic remote you can have. Nothing fancy/difficult… yet it’s Bluetooth only and is the ONLY physical remote you can use with their products. Even Apple opened up their proprietary Bluetooth remote to Logitech (assuming they needed to work with...
Well… the only advantage is setting up a Harmony Activity pointing to this ‘device’ on your remote, setting the AVR to right input at least ;) Baby steps in hopefully getting full integration at some point …
Totally agree. I have quite a few repurposed tablets scattered around to just be a display for ‘what’s playing?’ with simple controls to pause/play/skip. At my desk I use an 8” Fire tablet in wireless charging dock that fits under my computer monitor which works perfectly for Roon and Sonos...
Yeah … I always have to Force Quit the app on Mac (Intel Mac here) :cautious: I’m also hoping for an auto-update and/or ‘check for updates’ function in the app so we know when a new release is out there (it’s manual now).
