Yes, use the old smartphone as Streaming Client for a new Smartphone mit WiiM Home App. The old smartphone should be detected by the new smartphones Home App as a WiiM-device. So you can use it as a player like the Wiim Mini. Without WiiM Hardware.
I know this might be to much to ask from WiiM.
A lot of us have old smartphones with in our drawers which we would like to turn into WiiM Streaming clients with a simple software installation.
I am aware that doing this would eat into your own sales of the WiiM Mini device as that would...
I had a similar issue since yesterday. Something is wrong with Spotify Connect and the Ultra. Sometimes it worked when I used the Spotify Controls for device selection on the lock screen.

In the case you use the player for video, you can use the arc hdmi connection from your TV to connect to the WiiM Amp. And the optical output only for listening to music without the TV. That should work if your TV has an ARC HDMI socket.
@WiiM Support Please inform us, if LDAC encoding for Bluetooth Output to LDAC-compatible headphones is technically possible, and if so, when it will be implemented!
This is exactly what I wrote. It is more important to establish LDAC encoding for Bluetooth Output to headphones.
People using Bluetooth to stream to the WiiM device should in most cases be able to switch to Wifi streaming options.
