Am i listening vinyl?

hello,
i noticed some strange sounds coming out of mine wiim pro...it is connected via coax cable to pro-ject s2+ dac and i hear some cracks/clicks/pops, exactly the same like vinyl ones? sometimes i think i am listening vinyl rip instead of clean digital files...it is happening with all sources, be it music from my NAS, or using streaming sevices, or listening internet radio...?

i wonder it will damage my speakers...

Try a different cable, or perhaps reduce the output resolution to 24/96 in case your external DAC can’t handle a higher resolution.

The S2+ should handle 24/192 on its Coax and Optical inputs.

If that doesn't work it's still a smart idea to reduce the resolution and see if this fixes the problem. The next step could be to see if it's the DAC or the cable.

coax cable is audioquest, but who knows...

"vinyl sound" is not constant, but it is showing up from time to time and with some materials...

In any case, take the first step before the second and reduce the output resolution before changing the cable.

hmm, tonight it shows up while listening some mp3's from my NAS, yesterday it was with deezer, not sure if that's the answer..

No, the question was if the pops only occur when a new track starts, which might have a different sample rate and/or bit depth, or if it happens while the track is playing.

Have you tried optical instead of coax?

I agree. As suggested start by a) swapping the cable and b) reducing the max output to 24/96. If you can't resolve then send a ticket as the Pro Ject S2+ is definitely rated for 24/192 over Coax and Optical and although irrelevant 32/768 over USB
