Amp pro volume level reset

Hi,

I've noticed ever since the last update (mid May 2025 I believe), my wiim amp pro volume level resets to default (around 35% I think) every few days.
The wiim home app still shows my previously set volume level instead of 35%. Once I move the volume level around in the app, wiim amp pro would output the corresponding volume. This would fix this issue but I don't want to do this every few days.

I did not touch or change any settings during this time. It just happens by itself.

I'm wondering if anyone is experiencing the same thing and if there's any fix for this.

Thanks.

Hi,

My Ultra also has an issue with unintentional volume changes, but I haven't noticed it yet with Amp pro.

Next time you encounter the problem, please immediately submit a ticket via the feedback section of the WiiM app. A device log will be sent to help resolve the issue.

Btw, do you change the volume with the Smart Preset? If so, it is possible that similar problems may occur depending on the settings and how they are operated.

Thanks for the note... I'll try to submit a ticket when I notice the issue again.

I don't know what smart preset is. I just change the volume within the app for the device. I always set it to 50% and never change it until this issue starts happening.

From what you have told me, it is probably a bug. I will see if I can reproduce it on my Amp pro.

Smart Preset = Presets.

It is possible to specify the volume in the Presets edit screen and change the volume with the preset buttons.

Thanks. I'm not using any presets so no I'm not using this volume control here.

I basically use the wiim amp pro as my PC amp to speakers so I'm not really using it for streaming.

Also this only started happening since the last update. Not sure if it's the firmware update or the wiim home app update.

Does it change input when this happens? Each input on a WiiM device can have its own volume setting if per-source volume control is enabled under its audio input settings.

It didn't change the input. I'm using optical in since I'm using it for PC and it stays on optical the whole time.
Only the volume level changed.

I think it's similar to a system power cycle. If I unplug the power of wiim amp pro then plug it back in. It starts up again and the volume goes back to the low volume level (around 35%).

Maybe the amp pro restarted itself when this happened and I just didn't notice. (like during the night or something)

I have the same thing since a moment, amp pro always starts with 35% volume, whatever I do or reboot... Nothing new ?

I believe reboot is by design to have volume reset to 35%. However mine changes automatically after long idle (like overnight etc).
And no it's not fixed. I sent a ticket 3 months ago but still no resolution. I would recommend sending a ticket too so they get more awareness.

My Amp Pro does not change volume after a manual reboot. Possible problem with your device.

Reboot manually and if the volume drops to 35%, immediately please submit a ticket via the feedback section of the WiiM app.

Just want to set the default volume and get it memorized, don't know if we're talking about the same thing...
Ok I'll look at the feedback section

In your case, was the volume at 35% before the reboot?

It is not possible to set a default volume. I recommend submitting a request ticket.

It is possible to change the volume to any desired level using a preset.
As an alternative, I use an Alexa routine to set the volume back to default every morning.

I never have "normal use" 😅
I switch off direct on AC power, but sometime I reboot manually specifictly for trying resolve this, and main volume always to 35%, but I need 50% so I have to increase every time I switch on my amp to get music, not a problem but annoying...
I use it like a "normal hifi amp", no ethernet no Alexa or whatever preset. Anyway, thanks

That's interesting. I got this from support 3 months ago: 😓
Please note that restarting the device will automatically set the volume to 35%, which is intended behavior by design.

That would be a strange feature to add without announcing it. Did you say earlier that the volume displayed in the Wiim home app was still at 50%? If it is how can you tell that the starting volume is 35%? If it is a feature than the WiiM Home app should display the same volume.

My Amp Pro is set to 85% volume, but even after rebooting, the number of LED indicators lit does not change.

My situation is I usually set it to 50%, and I use it as PC speaker amp so it's always on. Sometimes overnight or after I'm out for a while and come back home, I can notice the volume went down (my guess is it went back to 35%) when I listen to stuff. However within the app, it still shows 50%. I have to re-adjust it for it to come back to the regular 50% volume.

I've reported 3 months ago and still nothing. Kind of giving up on this.

Are there any changes to the LEDs on the Amp pro?

When the volume is at 50%, there are three LEDs on; at 35% there are two.

I have them off but next time when I notice volume change, I'll turn on LED before adjusting volume and see what it shows
