annoying loud crack noise when stopping play on Amp Pro

For the last few days, I've noticed an annoying loud electrical crack noise from a speaker, when I stop/pause playback with my Amp Pro. 5.2.709965

I'm mostly listening to live radio, via Roon, over wired ethernet, direct from Amp Pro to external stereo speakers. It happens in one speaker, or the other, but not both.

I've had the Amp Pro for some months now, and never once had this happen before.

It doesn't happen on demand, just occasionally, once or twice a day. It seems to happen after playback has been on for a long time. Other times, there's no sound at all when pausing; it's quite intermittent.

This would not seem to be related to e.g. sampling rate changes, as it doesn't occur when changing tracks, only when pausing/stopping playback. But never on starting/restarting.

Anyone else noticed this, please, or have any ideas?

I know I could use fade-out/fade-in, but didn't really want to, and surely ought not to be necessary?

Have you already tried rebooting the device?

So turning on fade-out/fade-in solves the problem?

I hadn't thought of rebooting; an electrical noise doesn't seem like something that a software reboot might fix. But I'll try it.

I've also not tried fade-in/fade-out. I don't really want that affecting my music per-track in general, although mostly running from Roon, so I presume it wouldn't matter there?

The problem is that it only happens once or twice a day, so it's hard to test whether anything helps.

thanks!

Instead of rebooting from app, please try unplugging the power cable and plugging it in after a while 🙂.
