App on Android seems very slow and crashing

I am trying to get to grips with this.

I have a USB disk formatted with EXT4 and attached to a WiiM Amp. It contains about 75,000 titles (don't ask!).

Whenever I try to access anything, it hangs and then crashes.

a) what am I doing wrong?
b) what can I do to stop this?
c) would I be better off attaching it to my router which is a DLNA server?
d) are there other apps I could use instead?

Many thanks in advance,

Allan

It's a large collection but it shouldn't crash the app.
Does USB Input report the correct number of tracks?
Does it crash as you're browsing?

Make sure you send feedback from the WHA so WiiM can investigate.

It depends on the server but if it came with the router it's probably MiniDLNA, which is very basic.
A better option than MiniDLNA would be to configure your router as a network share and use Symfonium to index and play to your WiiM.

I can't get that far!

It just hangs as soon as I try to go anywhere near it.

How do I do that please?

Assuming you can open the app it's More > Feedback. If you can't even open the app then I'd try a reinstall, and if that fails unplug the USB and reboot the WiiM.

How long have you left it to index?

Overnight. I let it get on with it.
It should work with that sized collection but it's going to be a frustrating experience.

Ideally you'd have your collection on a NAS/SBC indexed by a decent media server for Symfonium to digest e.g. Lightweight Music Server/Jellyfin/Plex.
