Any thoughts as to adding Audacy support to the app?

Many of the streaming radio stations that I listen to are on Audacy. It would be great to have integration into the app or at least have the metadata show up coming from the Audacy app (similar to the SiriusXM app).

Cheers!

I'm surprised there hasn't been any further discussion on this subject. I tried to use my Mini today to tune into a local AM station to hear a baseball game. No luck as the station is with Audacy and TuneIn doesn't list it.

Does the station have a URL that you can add to the Open Network Stream section? Have you tried to see if vTuner hosts it?

Tried that several times for two different Audacy stations; it didn't work, including copying and pasting a working URL from my phone's browser for the station.

Strange that your phone supported it but Wiim didn’t. Could you post it here and i’ll give it a go?

Here's the link that works when I use my phone's web browser to play the station:
https://www.audacy.com/stations/kmox?action=AUTOPLAY_FULL&actionContentId=101-585
If I paste that into Wiim's Open Network Stream option, it doesn't play. However, pasting this into a browser on my PC does work. I tried both with another local Audacy station (97.1 Talk) and had the same results. Guess there is something about the Audacy API that doesn't like Wiim.

Not surprised that WiiM doesn’t play that - that’s a web browser interface URL. I mean URLs similar to this https://icecast.walmradio.com:8443/classic which is a direct link not tied to a browser.

What’s the station name?

It's in the link above -- KMOX. I've looked at their web sites and they don't seem to offer any link other than the "live" button which gives the URL shown above.

Thanks! You'd think the radio stations would want more listeners and their web sites for the stations would make things a bit easier for people who want to stream their stations. I found nothing on either web site for the two stations above that gave the info you did. Weird.

Not really weird - most listeners don’t need to know the streaming URL and stations would much prefer you to visit the website or use their app as that way they get more advertising revenue and are probably more able to get listener stats, location etc.

When looking for station urls, you need to Google a bit and use aggregator sites such as this https://radio-locator.com/info/KMOX-AM

I found and tried that last night after being told the station name but it didn’t seem to work for me - do they go off air at times, or maybe it’s because I‘m not in the US?
KMOX is on the air 24/7. I suspect your not being in the US is the issue. I know streaming services are restricted by location -- Qobuz, for example, was only very recently made available in Canada.

3 useful websites to obtain details on url stream addresses:

1) FM STREAM: Site address is "https://fmstream.org" Over 80,000 listed streams... click on a station to play within a browser. Especially useful as it lists all of the direct stream addresses for stations that have multiple streaming options (high bitrate, low bitrate, mp3, aac, etc)... and most stations do
2) RADIO BROWSER: Site address is "https://www.radio-browser.info" Very good database that is maintained by users
3) RADIO LOCATOR: Site address is "https://radio-locator.com" Been around for decades listing AM and FM radio station information (power, daytime & nighttime signal coverage maps, etc). They also list url stream address information

Personally, I much prefer listening to radio streams on my devices (including WiiM) by using the custom stream address that I personally input myself instead of relying on an app or browser to blindly choose a stream for me. That way I know exactly what I am getting and can ensure that I get the highest quality sound available. I find that accessing stations on TuneIn, Audacy, vTuner etc "blindly" connects me to a station, and oftentimes does not choose the best available stream. For example, TuneIn oftentimes defaults to a 128kbps mp3 stream for a given station when that same station offers much higher quality (192kbps, 320kbps, aac+, aacHE, flac, etc). I am hopeful that the WiiM app will someday allow the user to select from multiple streams for any given station when choices are available... that feature was mentioned in the development roadmap a long time ago.
