There not much detailed information about these speakers as to their capability. So here are a few questions for those in the know.

Can the speakers be grouped together to form stereo rooms?

Can the Ultra play directly to the Audio Pro speakers? If so, can you select the speaker groups it plays too?

I am trying to find a way of using WiFi only speakers with the Ultra, is there a better way?

Thanks,
Orlando

EDIT: The dumbest part of this site, you must use a tab and there isn't a tag list ...

Strictly speaking , you don’t need an ultra to play to Audio Pro speakers as they already can stream a range of services. The WiiM editions of these speakers have additional features like room correction etc comparable to the Ultra, the Pro etc.

You could group them with the ultra and assign one of them as the left channel and the other as the right and anything you play on the Ultra ( say its phono input) would play on them , as well as the ultra’s designated output which you could mute if not required.

You could consider other wireless speakers (klipsch seem to get mentioned a lot) and physically connect the ultra to one of them while the other speaker gets fed wirelessly from the first.

Thaks for the quick reply.

I picked uo the Ultra because I like how it handles Plex MP3 playback, or is that the app and that would still be the case with just the speakers? I have no real plans on connecting anything to the Ultra at this point, except wireless speakers if there is such a thing. Also, possibly connect it to an Echo Link and use those speakers. The Ultra is in what I call the media room which already has a nice stereo/home theater setup. But the rest of the house currently has Echo's (paired) around and I really want to ditch them for a dedicated audio system. I used to have Sonos's in my other house, but they're not what they seem to be and want better sound then that for that kind of money.

Thanks for the klipsch suggestion. I'm also looking at Denon Link (Home or HEOS) with their speakers.

But it would be nice if the Ultra supported wireless speakers directly. So possibly the WiiM A10's will do the job?

Sharing my setup in case it helps or I can answer any questions: I have an Ultra connected to TV (HDMI ARC), a CD Player (optical), as well as streaming and files on USB. The Ultra's line out goes to an old Bose Wave Radio which I have in a cabinet under my TV. The Wave sounds better than ever with a little EQ from the Ultra.

I also have the Wiim Edition A10's. Grouping works great for music and for TV. Latency is fine and I have no lip sync issues. You do need to set Group Audio Delay to 70us for the TV input, but it works great. For music, no problems at all. Sounds really good. I do use a different EQ to the Wave Radio for TV and music (to bring out vocals/dialog). This works fantastic.

My only complaint is that the volume levels for the A10's don't seem to be remembered based on the input to the Ultra. So when I switch between TV and music, the Ultra will adjust its volume, but the A10's need to be adjusted manually. Presets help with this, but I have to manually select the right preset after switching sources. The missing feature is for the A10's to have default or remembered volume levels for each Ultra input.

Hope this helps. I like the setup a lot. Sounds really good and works great in an open apartment setting.

Thank you very much for taking the time to explain all of this, it is very helpful. Although also disappointing on the volume setting thing.

My use case is my living room where the speakers would be hidden and on top of some cabinets, but I would be unable to press any buttons. Same for the outside speakers, too high up to press buttons.

But I do have a couple of questions.

1. Can the app fix the audio levels?
2. Changing volume on the Ultra changes listening volume?
3. Changing volume in the app, changes listening volume?

Thanks again.

1. The app can change the volume levels of all speakers independently, and a preset can set the fixed starting volume level.
2. Changing volume on the Ultra (I assume you mean turning the volume knob) only changes the volume on the Ultra, not the group.
3. The app can change the volume levels independently.
