Audio sync issues with

Hello community. I have just purchased a new TV and wiim surround system. The TV is an LG OLED C5. I am using a wiim amp pro for the lead and a wiim amp for the surrounds, setting up a 4.1 surround system. The system sounds great... but I can't get the audio to sync with the video. The audio is always behind the video. Even when I unlink the surrounds, there is still a noticable delay. This happens both when using a Google TV Streamer plugged into the TV or using the apps directly on the TV. WHen the surrounds are added, with the HDMI Arc delay set to 70ms, there is a very noticeable sync issue. The TV is set to bypass on the audio delay, and pass thru on the audio out. I have tried the TV audio delay slider, but it just adds more delay to the audio -- the issue is the audio is already behind the video. I have tried many combination of settings, and read many articles, but I see no way to delay the video so the audio matches. Does anyone have ideas on this?

Welcome.

I'm sorry to say that in my experience there's no way to avoid the lip sync issue without the source (tv in this case) being able to delay the video.
I've had the same issue with some other music streamer devices that have hdmi input, even before trying to add additional (grouped) devices.
I find the delay with a single wiim to be just about (but not really) acceptable, but as you say adding another wiim is a step too far!

Hopefully someone else will have some better advice!

On my older LG OLED CX, I see: [All] Settings > Sound > Additional Settings > AV Sync Adjustment "Adjust the timing to synchronize when the video and audio have time difference". It's a manual adjustment you can hear in realtime as you add delay.

I've never used the option, as I mostly watch via an Apple TV 4K, now plugged into another HDMI 2.1 port on the CX, which has its own wireless audio sync function leveraging a nearby iPhone. I've recently begun watching the occasional movie with WiiM-enabled dolby surround using an Ultra 2.1-channel lead playing front and a Pro 2.0-channel on rear surrounds. It works very well with a low-latency group delay having both participating WiiM devices on wired Ethernet.

Hi,
I adjusted the audio delay for WiiM using the Fire TV Stick's lip-sync feature.

Thank you for the suggestions so far. Please note that almost all TV sync adjustments ADD audio delay. My problem is that the audio is already behind the video. Adding more delay just makes things worse. I didn't know the fire tv can adjust the audio delay negative, essentially doing a video delay. I will research this further.

It always was my understanding that TV sync adjustments ADD video delay, just what you need.

I don't think so.

If the video and audio are not syncing on all channels
➔ Try using both the TV speaker and an additional external speaker.
If the sound is out of sync, adjust the sync in [Video and Audio Sync].
Try delaying the TV's audio output to sync it with the external speaker.

As I understand it that function will sync video and audio happening inside the tv for whatever reason.

That’s true, but as far as I know,
on TV, advanced video processing often causes the video signal to lag behind the audio, so the lip-sync feature is designed to correct this. Typically, you can delay the audio, but you can't delay the video.

In fact, none of the three TVs in my house can correct the audio delay on the WiiM. This matches the experiences of @Mr Ee and @DaveN. And there have been several similar posts in the past. 🙂

Understand, thanks for your explanation. It seems silly to me that the WiiM Ultra has no eARC (just discovered that, didn't know) since this is the standard for more than 5 years now and has a very stable and exact auto audio/video sync as part of the protocol.

Well it looks like it was the Google TV Streamer causing the audio delay. I got a Fire TV and it seems to work fine -- it has the negative audio adjustment, essentially introducing video delay, but wasn't necessary to go much negative. Thanx everyone.
