My MP3 files live on my Windows PC. WiiM Pro finds the files but it won’t play them - it just scrolls through the file list.

Can anyone help?

I think we might need more info to help you.
However, there have been a few people here who've had issues with windows sharing files.
I'd suggest trying to install minimserver, or similar, pointing it at your top level music folder and see if that helps any through the home music share menu in the wiim app.

Thank you for replying and, yes, I agree my post is info-light.

My music files are all MP3’s. WiiM finds the files using its Home Music Share feature. As I’m looking at it, I’m realizing that it’s looking at my Sonos server and I probably need to replace that. I’ll try minimserver and I think that or something similar might work.

I bought WiiM to replace Sonos, who seem to be in total customer rip-off mode. To get AirPlay to work in Sonos, I’d have to buy their new bridge for $449 and it doesn’t even have an optical connector unlike the $59 Sonos bridge it would replace. WiiM is a fantastic Sonos replacement and once I get the MP3 problem sorted out, a complete one too.

If I was you I'd consider moving my music files to something I could leave on 24/7 so I didn't have to leave the laptop switched on all the time.

Either a NAS or a Raspberry Pi with attached storage perhaps.

They’re on my desktop PC which I leave on 24/7.

I’ve solved the problem now. I didn’t know Windows had a built-in server. It’s off by default so I turned it one, pointed to the music folder, and there everything was.

Many thanks to all those who replied. WiiM is a great product.

As mentioned earlier Windows Media Sharing has a few problems, most notably track ordering (it's alphabetical), so you might want to look into MinimServer as suggested.

I’ve installed Minimserver and have both available on WiiM. I’ll try ewch over the next few weeks and see which one works best. At first glance, MinimServer seems faster.

If the alphabetical track listing hasn't put you off, try a search. On my PC at least, 'Microsoft Windows Search Indexer' consumes a vast amount of resources, and still doesn't find anything!

I'm afraid not.
If they have the same title you could use foobar to identify them.
There are tools to match them based on the audio content, but I have no experience of those.

If you install logitech mediaserver (free) on your PC and use Squeezer (android app) on your phone you can play your home music much more intuitively than through the home music share in the app. It's slow, you have to double tap because 'windows'. There is also a web interface so you can control it from a browser. I use a plugin called 'Material Skin' to make it look like it's not from 2001.

I have installed minimserver on my qnap nas and I can see all my music files. The only problem is when I select a song, the wiim shows 5 vertical wavy lines in stead of the play/pause icon and no music is played.

That does seem like a pretty fundamental problem for a music player!
I'm assuming you're using the Wiim app, Home Music Share.
Got a screenshot?

Does it work from another app, such as bubbleupnp for android or mconnect for ios?

Hi guys,
When using the minimserver and selecting the songs I get this view. Any suggestions? I still need to figure out how I setup LMS.

What happens if you press the green play button (a black triangle in a green circle)?

That screen looks like it's already playing something. If you click on 'WiiM Pro, Good Morning Judge...' toward the bottom of the screen it'll take you to the Now Playing screen. Does that show any track progression?

Why use Squeezer? Use the Material apk instead it’s then one interface to learn no matter what platform you are running it on.

@Kubach

There was another thread recently about a delay playing through the WHA on QNAP, does that sound like your situation?

The best thing would be to try another app, something like BubbleUPnP or mconnect, this would establish if everything is setup correctly.
