Cannot pair with app

I have a new pro plus. The instructions say to open the app and then press the play button on the wiim for 3 seconds and when the light starts to flash, press connect on the app. Problem is when I press play, all I get is a very fast flashing white light, then green light, then goes back to fast flashing white, green etc.. The app never finds the wiim. So I try to factory reset by pressing the play button over 10 seconds and absolutely nothing happens. Not sure what to do next. When I first got the Wiim, it paired just fine, but then later lost the pairing, and now it won't pair at all.
 
I have this happen from time to time now since one of the latest firmware updates. All of a sudden the app says connected but cannot find device. The only apparent fix is to disconnect the WiiM Pro Plus from the power source, reboot the router, restart the WiiM and then start the process again.

Interestingly, I have none of this. Just a straight 5ghz wifi from the router. Nevertheless, I have had the "cannot find device" error 3 times since November 2024. Thankfully a reboot of the router fixes it. I believe it's due to firmware updates as the timing matches.
