Can someone kindly help a newbie please?
Can I connect a Shanling CD Transport to a WiiM Amp pro so it utilises the onboard DAC in the WiiM?
If yes how do I connect it please?
Alternatively if I connect a CD player which has an internal DAC can I choose between the WiiM DAC and the CD player DAC.
Thank you
Martin

If the transport you are interested in has an optical toslink output you can directly connect it to the WiiM Amp Pro. The WiiM Amp Pro even comes with an optical cable. The digital signal from the transport will be converted into the analogue domain by the DAC in the Amp Pro.

See above, unless the transport only has a coqxial S/PDIF output. In this case you would need an additional digital to digital converter that takes a coax input and provides an optical output.

You can connect an analogue RCA output of any CD player (so the digital signal has been converted to analogue by the CD player's DAC) to the line input of the WiiM Amp Pro, but you cannot escape its DAC. The analogue line input is digitised by the Amp Pro's and then (after processing and volume control) converted to analogue by the Amp Pro's DAC again.

So, you can either have the Amp Pro's DAC only or the CD player's DAC plus Amp Pro ADC plus Amp Pro DAC.

Thank you very much. 🙂
One final question..sorry
The Shanling ET3 as attached photo has a I2S digital output (HDMI) could I use this and the hdmi digital input on the WiiM Amp Pro to make use of all the respective ‘add ons’ and formats that the Shanling CD transport offers?
Thanks again 🙂

No, the hdmi input on the WiiM is for an ARC connection from a TV, and the usb connection on the amp pro doesn’t support usb audio in, so looks like optical out from the Shanling into the Amp Pro is your only option.
