connectivity inconsistent from Spotify

I recently picked up a WiiM Pro to use primarily with Spotify, and sometimes it works! For the record I run Spotify on one mobile device with a phone SIM that I usually use for communications (Google Pixel 8, Android Android 16), another mobile device without a phone SIM that I like to use as a remote for entertainment devices (Motorola Moto g stylus , Android 13), and on a Windows 10 PC. When I first start Spotify on a mobile device it rarely shows Wiim Pro in the device menu. Eventually it shows up, after I poke at it for a while. Today, I started on the Windows 10 PC, and Wiim Pro showed up but when I selected another track, the original track continued to play through the WiiM Pro while the PC instance of Spotify had forgotten about the Wiim Pro. This led to the funny situation where the Wiim Pro app on the Pixel showed that the original track was still playing while the Spotify app showed that the second selected track was playing.

Anybody figured out how to get all this to work smoothly and reliably?
tia.

Are you actively using Google Cast for anything?

If not, can you disable Google Cast for the WiiM Pro? Can you double check that you are using Spotify Connect with all devices, not Google Cast?

This is a bit shooting in the dark, there's no magic switch.

Also, if Spotify's audio quality is set to lossless, please try lowering the audio quality to see if this resolves the issue.

OK, so.... with the advent of Spotify Lossless, I bought the WiiM Pro to replace a Google Chromecast device, because of course, you can't listen to Spotify Lossless via Chromecast. If I were unable to listen to Spotify Lossless via WiiM Pro, I would return it, and reinstall the 10 year old Chromecast dongle, which was nothing if not reliable. The second thing I did after setting up WiiM Pro was disabling the Google Cast protocol on it to ensure that I avoided its compression. If I wanted to use Google Cast, I would continue using their devices.

I'm not suggesting you should abandon lossless audio. I simply wanted to check whether using your phone's hotspot might be causing connectivity issues. If lowering Spotify's audio quality resolves the issue, it suggests a potential Wi-Fi connectivity issue.

Could you please open the Network Status in the WiiM app and post a screenshot of this section?

Also, you may wish to try the following:

- DNS on/off
- IPv6 on/off
- If connected via Wi-Fi on 5GHz, enable
- 5GHz Only
- Reboot all devices

After turning off Motorola's Wi-Fi, please open the Spotify app on your Google Pixel 8 and attempt to connect to WiiM. Currently, WiiM devices don't require 2 phones when utilising a hotspot. A single Pixel can handle both router and remote functions. This may stabilise the Wi-Fi communication between the Pixel and WiiM. (There is no guarantee, but do give it a try.)

# Please turn off your PC's Wi-Fi and conduct the Spotify Connect functionality test using only one Pixel.

Here's the WiiM Pro Wifi status screen from the Pixel right now. I'll turn off the PCs and the Motorola phone tomorrow and see how it works.
Its not that it consistently does not work. As you can see, its working. I can usually get it to work eventually, it just takes a while.

I know I don't need two phones, but I don't like throwing old things away so I repurpose them :). 99% of the time I am on Wifi, don't need a mobile device on a cellular network.
