Why is there a vastly different bitrate between the same songs when played in native android qobuz app (using bluetooth connection to wiim Mini and optical out to smsl dac) versus when played ising built in qobuz in wiim mini (using wifi input and optical out to smsl dac)?

See the two screenshots below, one native qobuz and the second from wiim built in qobuz. In both cases max resolution set to 24/192. Only qobuz app provides 192khz
Thanks
Tom

The physical output you have set on the WiiM dictates the sample rate you see on the WiiM app screen.

For example the 2nd screenshot shows Line Out. This is an analog output, not digital. You have to instruct the WiiM on how to sample the signal while it’s doing a Digital-to-Analog conversion. Look in your WiiM audio settings and under Line In you will see a conversion rate. Set this as high or low as you like, and that setting is what appears on your WiiM App now playing screen

It is using optical out to smsl dac. See updated screenshot below

Bluetooth can’t support lossless hi res audio, whereas playback using Qobuz from the WiiM Home app does.

In the Qobuz app, tracks show as Hi-Res/192KHz when using AirPlay even though they are 16bit/44.1KHz ALAC.

But what is showing is exactly opposite to what you are saying. Qobuz native app over Bluetooth shows 24/192, while qobuz from wiim over wifi is stuck at 16/48

Your native Qobuz app is showing you the source sample rate/bit depth. If you choose Bluetooth as an output it must perform a conversion as Bluetooth is not capable of HiRes just as Burnside says

Hmm, but in the screenshot from qobuz app you can see 24/192khz with grouped devices too
Not what your screenshot shows, which is a single device. The native Qobuz app can only do 24/192 to the device it’s playing on. If it doesn’t detect it’s playing over Bluetooth, the display is misleading

Ok, sloved. I ungrouped (actually unplugged) one of the minis and the HR bitrate is back. Thanks everybody for their replies.

What are you grouping within the native Qobuz app? If it’s
Not grouping anything in qobuz app. In wiim home app grouping two minis
For the WiiMs, when you group 2 devices, the WiiMs will default to 48khz for a reason that only WiiM knows. I believe it’s for compatibility reasons as well as the reduction of bandwidth necessary to stream multiple devices
