Feeling defeated, speakers will not group together all the sudden and play music from Spotify.

I don't know what's going on with these speakers guys, nothing is working as expected... Speakers will just not group (even when selected) and play audio from Spotify. Been trying to get them to group which is my normal weekend routine to play music throughout the house and they just wont play... Keeps showing them grouped, not playing. then they split apart, then grouped again. The weird behavior happens with both the WiiM app and Audio Pro App.

I will not blame my network because I'm running a pair of Asus ET12's which have been the most solid routers I have used to date and I upgrade every few years. I have a busy household & my network currently consists of 65 wireless devices including Ring, Eufy security cameras, multiple games consoles, smart Tv's, computers, etc... Everything is working as it should. (small-time IT guy & tech enthusiast)

I'm used to doing a lot of grouping and ungrouping when I play music through the house and this was a common practice with Sonos, since I never technically upgraded the Sonos app, I never suffered the technical problems that were associated with it.

I have a total of 8 speakers that I plan on using in the end, is this feasible or is that too much for this system to handle?

As of now I'm starting wonder what I got myself into....

Are you using the same name for individual devices and for Google Home groups?

That makes it so confusing I don't feel like digging deeper into it.

Let me just say so much for now: I'm not thrifty when it comes to criticizing Google Home, but what you want to achieve is actually doable. Don't give up yet.

Well its working now but I'm really questioning the stability/reliability of this setup.

Grouping & ungrouping within the WiiM app seems to not function well. I had instances where speakers would just not group together no matter how many times I check them, hit done.... Now all sudden the work, what would cause this behavior?

So what is the secrete? Will removing Google and Amazon improve things? Is there a certain method/order to grouping?

And where is my "groups" option in the WiiM app that the [Beta] How to Set Up and Use WiiM Persistent Group article speaks of?

Hi Conn,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Please remove standard Audio Pro devices (non-WiiM Edition), such as the Audio Pro C5A and C10 speakers, from the group. These devices are not fully compatible with WiiM OS, which may cause issues when using the persistent group features. Our team primarily tests with WiiM devices, so we cannot guarantee full compatibility with non-WiiM devices.

Additionally, please send us a feedback ticket so we can further troubleshoot this issue for you. Thank you for your understanding!

This is the C10 is the WiiM Edition but these products need to be marketed better because as of now its confusing as hell regarding what works with what... I think people will naturally expect Audio Pro and WiiM to work with each other in some way whether limited or not unless you guess use some explicit wording that they do not...

And as of this moment they are actually all playing fine together so I really don't get it.... (see below)

As already mentioned, AudioPro speakers (non-WiiM Edition) are not officially supported by the WiiM app. As far as I know, the non-WiiM Edition is not advertised as if it is compatible with WIiM devices. (However, I think it is possible that the posts of some members of this forum are misleading.)

Well, this is how they are advertised on Amazon.... Nothing leads me to believe it they should not work together. Or else I probably would not have purchased them... I didn't buy them to piss myself off, lol.

I see "Works with Airplay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Multiroom on both of these products. I don't see anything that explicitly says "Adding these to WiiM or Non Wiim will cause products to not function. And then the WiiM Pro Plus "Easily build your multiroom sound system with your existing AirPlay 2 speakers, Amazon Echo, and Google Home devices. Using your legacy audio devices, you can create a more flexible multiroom sound system with multiple WiiM Pros" . How does anyone expect us to believe there will be issues with this type of product advertising?

Yes, my WiiM device and A10 WiiM Edition are working fine in the multi-room, I can play Spotify in both the Google home group and the Linkplay group. (I don't want to continue this sterile discussion any further.)

Therefore, I think there is still a problem somewhere in your system, app, or network.

Btw, what is the remaining problem now?

Were you able to create a group in the Google home app and play it through Spotify connect?

I suggest you start all over again to get group playback on Chromecast.
  1. Ungroup all groups in the WiiM home app.
  2. Create a group "test room" in Google home app with 2 devices: WiiM pro plus and WiiM Mini. Do not include any other devices.
  3. Connect to the "test room" group in the Spotify app.
  4. Check that Spotify music is playing properly in the group.

If you have done this successfully, add devices to the "test room" one at a time and test the same way.

I agree with @Wiimer (as is usually the case), taking one step at a time.

If you haven't been aware of the fact that the WiiM Editions of Audio Pro products are different from the standard versions that's unfortunate, but not too much of an issue. Each product will live up to its advertised capabilities, including Googlecast groups as the common platform for multi-room streaming.

Also note that "not supported" doesn't necessarily mean "doesn't work". This is primarily a user community, so other integrating non-WiiM with WiiM equipment might be able to share their experience.
