Hello everybody,
I first became aware of WiiM sometime in late 2023. I saw several products being released, and then bought our Ultra streamer in December 2024.
I am completely satisfied with our purchase - even more so as the product has evolved since its launch via a slew of regular firmware updates.
Out of personal curiosity, I decided to look further into the whole area of firmware updates and tried to assess how regular they are. I suspect that WiiM release more updates than some of their competitors.
So I accessed the data on the "WiiM App and Firmware Updates" forum pages, together with older data found on the "WiiM: Help Center" pages, and created a spreadsheet with all the data I could find. Then I mapped the data onto a chart so that I could visualise the firmware updates per product across time.
This is very basic, and I'm sure many out there could do a much better job. I'm happy with the results, which I enclose below, purely for information purposes and my own education.
The first chart displays all the data I could find. It results in a bit of a squashed display, and individual points are sometimes difficult to ascertain - but I believe that it does convey that there are a lot of updates, and they are released quite often.
I then changed the selection date criteria for the other two charts so that they are easier to see for more recent time periods.
Each individual WiiM product is represented by a horizontal line, and the horizontal spacing is time sensitive. There is no significance to shapes nor colours.
Chart 1 = All the data for all dates, individual time points quite squashed in places :-

Chart 2 = Zoomed in a bit, individual points still overlapping quite a bit

Chart 3 = zoomed in a bit more, Ultra time points now easier to see :-

I found a total of 467 individual updates, including :-
Home App (Android) = 106 individual firmware updates
Home App (IOS) = 92
Mini = 83
Pro = 57
Pro Plus = 36
Ultra = 41
Amp = 21
Amp Pro = 14
Amp Ultra = 5
Vibelink = 2
I hope that some of you find this of interest.
Regards,
Swan
