Having zero luck setting up my Wiim Pro

I went through the set up and connected the Wiim Pro to my Amazon account. Cannot get any stream music to play through any of the echo devices, let along whole house.

I then connected my turntable (AT-PL120-->Schiit Mani 2--> Wiim Pro) and was able to here music from the turntable on only 1 specific Echo device, so I know it works.

Ideally I would like to play vinyl through the Wiim Pro to all Echo devices in the house. For the life of me I can figure out the setup.

I'm fairly tech saavy but I'm stumped. Any and All help/feedback appreciated!!

I’m surprised to read that you have the turntable working on even one echo - what setup and connections did you use to accomplish that? A direct Bluetooth output connection from the Pro to the echo, or the pro’s analog out to the echo’s aux in which is only supported on a handful of older echos?

Wiim devices can‘t re distribute audio to a group of echos. If you want that kind of functionality, you need an Echo Link with USA firmware (or a particular workaround) for what they call “line in redistribution”.

Also, re your first point, you can add a WiiM device to an Alexa multi room music MRM group and ask Alexa to play audio on that MRM group for selected music services like Amazon Music and Spotify. You can also set your Wiim device as a preferred speaker for a smart home device group, or ask Alexa to play music directly to the Wiim device. In order to do those things, you need to have linked your Alexa account to Wiim thru the Amazon Alexa entry in the Wiim Hone app’s Browse Menu.

Yes. You are correct. I was able to connect it via bluetooth connection, but accidently hit "forget this device" and now I can't get it back at all. From what I read the Echo Link has it's issues too. I'm just stumped over why I can't play anything through the Wiim Pro. No Amazon music or Spotify. Very disappointed in the Wiim. :( I guess it will be going back.
Thank you for your feedback

I don't understand why it shows that you can connect a turntable??

I and others happily play Amazon Music and Spotify on our WiiM devices with little or no issue up to the full resolution delivered by the streaming services - think of it as a souped up Amazon Echo in that respect, never mind its ability to support other services. What it won't do though is redistribute its audio to other echo devices as it can to other Wiim/Linkplay devices, or will soon be able to do with other airplay speakers..

Yes, you can connect a turntable and then send that audio to its line, coax or optical out onwards to a DAC, speaker or soundbar as per the drawn lines.

What it will also do, as explained in its manual under Linkplay multi room (sections 9&10 iirc) , will send that audio to other WiiM/ Linkplay devices which can similarly be connected to another amp/dac/speaker etc.

What it won't do is send audio to the smart speaker devices shown, although it can be grouped with them to play music from many of the smart speaker supported music services.

I’m sorry, but I think you’re incorrectly assuming that it supports a feature that neither the diagram nor manual explicitly states.

You have to use a tt with inbuilt pre or a tt and an external pre to connect to RCA of the WiiM.
Or you may use one of the very rare (the only one I had once hands on was a TEAC DN570) tt with an internal ADC to use the spdif in of the WiiM. There are a lot of tt with USB out, but...

Yeah, but you could only then send that to one of the Pro's outputs, or a group of other WiiM/Linkplay devices, not a group of echos as the OP appears to want to do :)

May be my aversion to send something to any smart device made me once more blind. So, I am out 😉
I agree with you. I have a nice set up in my "listening room" but was hoping to be able to put a record, then walk around my house and hear the record on the various echo speakers around house. I guess technology isn't there yet.:(

I connected the external Phoo preamp to the Wiim Pro with RCA cables. Was hoping it would play through the Wiim to Echo devices. I guess i misinterpreted what i have read about the Wiim capabilities

To what device is your TT connected now?
Is there a spare analog (RCA) output?
Maybe connecting this to aux in of an existing echo does the job?
Sorry for not promoting WiiM. 😇

There are a limited number of echos with aux in - they’re even fading out aux out connections - but that still won’t address sending audio to other echos.

As I say, the Echo Link permits this if you have USA firmware or supposedly if you change the Link’s device address (not account address) to somewhere in the USA if your Alexa account is in another region. To a degree you can understand Amazon not over publicising such a feature as they want you to use echos to access Alexa and the paid music services it offers rather than allowing you to use whatever local music source you want.

As a footnote, there is a convoluted way including “workarounds” to get audio from a PC sound card transmitted as a webstream that an Alexa skill can then pick up and divert to multiple echos, but it’s rather Heath-Robinson and not really worth the effort.

@Brantome,

If he replaced the Echo with a homepod, would his wish come true with an Airplay transmission?
From what I’ve seen of the airplay casting beta firmware, potentially.

As I’ve said earlier, if an echo link can do it, it’s not beyond the bounds of possibility that the Alexa MRM stack that WiiM uses may provide means of doing the same with WiiM devices and echos, but that‘s a very big if…
