Hello everyone!

Sorry for my poor English, but it's not my native language!

I wanted to stream music from my PC (Win 11) to my Wiim Amp.
I have two Wiim Amps, none of them work.
Lossless format (flac, 16 bit, 44.1 kHz, 950 kbit/s), but it won't play. MP3 works fine, media streaming settings on PC are fine.

Has anyone tried streaming flac?
Does anyone have any experience with it?

THX!

What do you mean by media streaming settings on the PC.
You need to have a UPnP server running on your PC with your music files in the target directory of this server.

Are you streaming using the WiiM Home PC App?

Googling suggests that “Windows Media Player's built-in DLNA server is not optimized for FLAC streaming and may not correctly index or share those files with network devices. While WMP can play FLAC files locally on your PC, its DLNA implementation often presents a usability nightmare when attempting to stream them, leading to files not appearing or being unplayable on renderers like the WiiM".

Either use the desktop WiiM home app, mediamonkey, Jriver etc

It's a big disappointment that a newer player like the Wiim Amp can't play it, but an older player like the Yamaha NP-S303 can!
I'm sad!
THX again!

This does not seem to be streaming problem but a casting (see pic 2 by the OP) problem Those are two different things with the latter being less compatible among devices/implementations.
It‘s not a problem on the WiiM but with how it is set up in the media player on Windows.

It's set up well because it plays mp3 files, and the Yamaha streamer also plays flac.
Plus, there are no more settings!

Yes, it may be able to cast mp3 and still not work with flac because this is defined in the setup pf the player. If there are no setting that you can tweak, then I‘m afraid it will simply not work this way.

But if this is the way you want to operate your music playing I recommend that you intall foobar2000 on your PC. Is a free music player with ALL the features you can think of including CD ripping, CD playback, tagging, library organisation etc. etc.
As of the last release it also has a DLNA casting function (they call it Remote control). This works with WiiM streamers out of the box and the use concept is the same the one you are used to.

@Lalee
Is there a reason you are using what looks like the legacy windows media player ?
The more up to date Windows media player handles DLNA much better and there are 3rd party media players that will do a better job

This was easy to transfer and Win 11 has the transfer function.
It has worked so far for the Yamaha streamer, I thought it would work for this too.
No way!

Are you sure that the current Windows Media Player includes DLNA?
I check on mine and there is no sign of DLNA anywhere. Though there is a chance that I kicked that out when setting up my Windows 11🤣. I don‘t like to have stuff on my PC that I don‘t use.

If the mp3 files are transferred to the Wiim Amp fine, then it must be set up correctly and know the DLNA server, right?

Yeah, but this probably is a prime example of what’s said above about the well known nightmare of dlna compatibility issues.

You’d really get a better experience using one of the suggestions already made above.

Like I said, the server needs decive specific settings for UPnP casting. And if these are not there and the default doesn‘t fit either all sorts of may not work. These may be file formats not being supported, no gapless, largers files not playing, stop of playback after one title etc.

You need to enable Windows media streaming

I reinstalled the current Windows Media Player and I found the option to play to another device. I tested it with a flac file. The cast ist initiated and the WiiM does get a signal, but then it breaks off and doesn't play the file. So also the new Windows Player is of no help.
