So, the same functions as a pro or pro plus and :

Multiple rca and preferably digital outputs
4 or 8 channel outs
Multiband Compression
PEQ
Routing
Phase
Delay
Basically active crossover function on all the outputs, digital and audio
Saving and loading of presets and Eq settings etc to file download

So all the lovely user friendly great sounding Wiim streaming features which I love plus the function of a full DSP setup, active crossover

Not much to ask for haha
I'm so impressed with the PEQ and room correction that wiim have obviously worked hard on, i'm sure they have the skills to go further

If thats too much i'd settle for just a nice a nice sophisticated Multiband Compressor and the ability to save settings to disk

Cheers !

How much are you willing to pay? ;) And anyway, why cram all this into one device? Assemble a system.

What would I pay ? well it depends on the features provided

Why cram it into one device ? Simple, I don't want to run two complex DSP's in the signal chain.

If Wiim are going to become experts in DSP then why not add more features. They are democratising room correction and PEQ in the consumer HIFI market. Introducing a whole new area of audio to many users. Why not keep going

I doubt the current processors in Wiim streamers could cope with my DSP needs though

You should definitely contact minidsp rather than wiim...

You should definitely contact minidsp rather than wiim...
For now, Wiim is essentially a streaming service that's trying to add features... but it will always be possible to add a small Wiim streamer to a "miniDSP" or other devices adapted to your needs, even if these are far from common or mainstream.

They are not streamers
Wiim are already encroaching into MiniDSP territory so why not work on a multiband compressor as well (when hardware power allows) ?
Again, i'd like only one complex DSP in my signal chain. I like the Wiim ecosystem, the price point, the mass market

miniDSP SHD is, in fact, a streamer. And it has full DIRAC Live support.

Thanks. I've looked into it a bit; the price in Japan is 303,600 JPY (1,960 USD). I'm not sure yet whether it's worth paying that..

Is the cost of DIRAC included?

If you can explain to me convincingly why I need it at home, I might agree. And so will millions of other music lovers.

I agree with you on this one.
Well it depends on what sort of music you listen to really. For a lot of modern pop rock jazz recordings theres really no need, but for classical music theres a very good argument for using dynamic range compression

Pop rock etc has a pretty limited dynamic range

Classical often has huge dynamic range, very quiet passages and then enormously loud. Sounds great in the concert hall but in the domestic environment you have to ride the volume controls

Classical radio broadcasts and streams already apply dynamic range compression so its much easier to listen to

What i'd like is a flexible system of compression I can add onto my streams etc in the Wiim

The same function would probably be useful for people using Wiim to provide sound for TV and movies as well. We all know what its like with actors mumbling dialogue nowadays followed by a huge explosion

It's quite comical... Not only are you highlighting a very specific expectation for a rather niche market by approaching a brand that, until now, has targeted the general public with affordable, rather modest machines... but you also seem not to realize that Wiim has embarked on the subject of correction, DSP usage, etc... it's already difficult for them as it stands... they often don't even seem to fully grasp certain audio-related topics... progress is slow... but we're miles away from what you seem to be suggesting they can handle...
So I maintain that you should contact others with proven expertise in these areas... and simply place a Wiim upstream, without any digital processing...
a simple Mini will do the job with a Toslink connection.
For the general public, no professional, minidsp inevitably comes to mind...

For that model full Dirac is provided. their other ranges require extra for license

This isn't for me, I guess?

I don't know about you lot but these DSP functions have already transformed my HIFI listening after decades of just making do
It's because you're not following the process, the difficulties encountered by Wiim... and seem even less to realize the difficulty of the long list—which seems to be just a list—that you're requesting... not Wiim's market, nor their expertise (unless you call on high-end consultants in these areas). We're constantly bombarded with long, fantastical lists of "what Wiim should do," but this... hihi
