Was just about to purchase a WiiM Mini but then saw a comment on Amazon that AirPlay is being removed in the latest firmware update. Is this correct?

Nor as far as I have seen, nor have WiiM announced or done that. Whoever wrote that comment is mistaken or misinformed.

In former times, WiiM streamers could act as AirPlay transmitters, not just receivers. This feature has been removed long ago now. Maybe the commenter got confused.

Good to know. This is the comment on Amazon:
Be careful though - sometimes multiple models are reviewed under the same set of comments. This might not even be pertinent to the Mini and might be referring to the Airplay transmit feature that was removed from other models some time ago (which the Mini never had).

I think you can rest assured that if that were the case, there would have been an almighty brouhaha here and elsewhere. The comment is clearly misleading

I agree, hence my initial shock and subsequent query seeking clarification.

As it turns out, the purchasing delay the comment caused proved beneficial as it has been pointed out to me by other members here that the WiiM Mini wouldn't be suitable for my usage situation given its apparent less than ideal analog outputs. My amp only has RCA inputs.

I'd always advise people to start with at least the WiiM Pro, if not the Plus, particularly when there are deals available like the 20% offer I believe might be available on Black Friday i.e. now. The Pro/Plus have much better connectivity, DACs and features into the bargain

I foolishly assumed that WiiM outputs were outputs and had no idea there would be noticeable sound quality differences across their various models. It's a shame because the WiiM Mini is quite affordable for me in the BF sales currently.
