Is there a way to control my WiiM Mini from my old iPad running iOS 9.3.5?

Hi -- I have an old iPad that works great and would be a great controller for my WiiM that I otherwise control using Android phones. But Apple won't let it upgrade iOS past 9.3.5 so the WiiM apps won't install. Does anyone know of a way to control the WiiM Mini through a web interface or a legacy app? Is there a way to get VLC to talk to it? I mostly use it to bookmark network streams for radio stations. Thanks.
