it stood out to me that tidal, spotify and qobuz all have an external 'whats playing' / controls player. So when you unlock your phone you can easily skip tracks and so on. Why doesnt the wiim app provide this ? its kind of annoying because now you everytime have to go in the app to switch tracks.

This has been suggested in several other threads.

For Android the WiiM Home App needs to be integrated with the Android media API.

Ow ok. Is there a tutorial on how to do this?
I think the comment you refer to needs to be done by the developers, not users. WiiM have this on their roadmap for the ultra/app: “Support App Widgets on iOS and Android” as something they’re working on.

Yes. It's on @WiiM Team. The widget support is however not part of the integration. The integration is about volume and playing control using the default Android controls.

Ive submitted a ticket. Lets see what comes back
Good. I raised a ticket several months ago with the following answer:

"Regarding the background volume control function, we have added your request to our feature list. If we have the opportunity to implement this feature in the future, we will certainly consider it."

They replied quick which is nice. They always do. But this doesnt look like a fix any time soon;

Thank you for reaching out to the WiiM Support team. We greatly appreciate your suggestion and have added your request to our feature list. Should the opportunity arise to implement this feature in the future, we will certainly consider it.
Your feedback is invaluable to us as it helps in shaping a better user experience. If you have any more ideas or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Thank you once again for your input and support.

It looks like low priority although requested by several users and, at least for Android, a standard feature of any media app.

Fully agree, should just be a standard function of any music playing app. I love that wiim is updating so many things but at one point i ask myself. Shouldnt many of these functions already be in place
