Hi
After using the pro + for a while , I am thinking of buying cheap Xioami Pad with 22gB RAM and 2 TB ROM android 14 from AliExpress to use as dedicated music server and run wiim home app, my telephone only has 128GB storage , I think it is more convenience this way as I am tired of setting up my old WDmyclound and still rely on wifi to send it to the WiiM hardware, my phone take around 10 seconds to connect to WiiM Pro+ , hopefully this Xioami will take less time because it has more powerful CPU heap of RAM and storage and do not need to run 24 hours , and it only cost $168 AUD (around a bit over $100 US) , and yes the name is Xioami not Xiaomi , any thought , Thanks.

I have to install wiim home app , and send to pro+ via wifi, I mean instead of using the tel , now I would use the pad with big storage.
Assuming that your WD was running a DLNA/Plex server and connected over ethernet, your new approach will be using considerably more Wi-Fi, as the Pro+ will need to pull the track from the tablet rather than the WD.

And you could not use your phone to play the music stored locally on that tablet (given it wasn't a fake offer in the first place). You'd always have to pick up the tablet.

Not even sure if you could add a local playlist to a device preset, aI never use local storage.

That is what I want to know , my WDmycloud is old one I will have to try to learn how to set it up, Thanks.

I would leave the pad on the table dedicate to the Wiim only .

So you're currently using your phone as the music server? Sorry I didn't realise that.

Have you any experience with the Raspberry Pi or Linux? That's going to be a much better music server than a cheap NAS.

HI, yes currently use my phone to play, and I do not have experience with Pi , may be I should try Linux, the NAS is still new , it has not been used since I had it 20 years ago, Thanks.

The Raspberry Pi is just a small board computer (SBC) that typically runs Linux. The advantage of the Pi over mini-PCs is that it has an extensive software ecosystem, including solutions like DietPi for those that don't want to maintain an O/S.

If you want to use the WiiM Home app for browsing your collection I'd recommend Plex, otherwise I'd recommend Jellyfin with the Android app Symfonium.

Thank you , I will have to try these.
