Naming linked Wiims

Hi,

If I have my “upstairs WiiM” and “downstairs Wiim” linked, can I give this linked pair a name? Currently in Spotify I still see both “upstairs” and “downstairs” devices, but the device labeled “downstairs” is actually the pair which is kinda confusing for people.

Not as yet but “persistent groups” are in beta which will allow you to do this. Hopefully it won’t be long before there’s a public release

I don’t have tidal, but they are visible to Spotify

Just tried from an old Tidal trial account and it only sees individual WiiM devices or Chromecast groups, not WiiM persistent groups.

Yes, currently I believe only Spotify can do that.

I think the group name needs to appear in the cast destination because the same device can be duplicated in a persistent group. It will also be interesting to see what happens when the master device release is added in the future.
