Apologies if the answers are else where, but I am struggling to find exactly what I need so am hoping I can ask more knowledgeable folks than myself.
I just moved into a new place with in-ceiling speakers throughout the house. For the most part I think I want to use the system for streaming music from a number of Google pixel phones in the household. It would be good to have seperate zones that individuals could use independently, but also have ability to group for when there is a party or something. The exception is the basement where I may want to use to make my existing 5.1system a 7.1 system.
More details:
There are 4 in-ceiling speakers on the main floor, 2 in living area and 2 in open kitchen, which I think could be one zone, but I think would need 2 wiim amps.
I have 3 more in-ceiling speakers on bedroom floor, 2 in master bedroom and 1 in attached master bedroom which I also think could be one zone, but would need 2 Wiim amps.
I have 4 more speakers on loft area, 2 inside as in ceiling speakers and 2 outdoor speakers on patio, might be ok as one zone, but again would need 2 wiim amps.
Finally I have 2 speakers in my man cave basement, which would actually be ideally placed as rear speakers for a 7.1 system, but maybe still one Wiim amp? Not sure if maybe I could some how get speaker wire under basement to AV receiver under TV and then maybe use a Wiim mini to connect to rest of system instead.
The tricky thing for me, is that all speakers listed are wired to the basement under the stairs, except for 5.1 system in mancave) along with HDMI connections on each floor where a TV would go. There is no equipment under the stairs, just the ends of the speaker cable and HDMI connection to the rest of the house.
This is a much bigger audio project than I have ever done as previously in my condo I had that single 5.1 system in my living room with wires just running along the baseboards and under my couch.
I think after some research I could connect 6 Wiim Amps down under my stairs. Then with the Amp I could control all streaming.
A few questions though:
1)Is this idea crazy as it requires 6 or 7 amps. Should I be looking at cheaper amps and then just use a few Wiim minis around the house?
2)Do I need HDMI connections for streaming music from Android phone (rest of house is on Google home for doorbell, thermostat and such) Once the speakers are powered via the amps downstairs, is there anything else I need for streaming music? Or do amps connect easily to WiFi to allow control from anywhere in the house?
3) Is there anyways to connect the basement speakers that are wired to under the stairs to a home theatre setup that is wired to a receiver in the man cave living area? I think this is where I would want to use an HDMI connection. I do have a Sony TV with Google TV built-in with eArc and. Sony receiver with eArc
4) Is there another route I should be considering completely?
Thanks for any information.
