Best way to connect my system? I.have all the equipment except the Wiim. But currently turntable, preamp and speakers are only thing hooked up. Receiver is like new condition.

Wiim Ultra
Vintage Onkyo receiver [late 70"s] (tape1, tape 2 phono)
Rega Turntable
Parasound preamp
Sony CD player [80's]pp

And have two set of speaker options.
Klipsch RP500M... or
Edifier R2000 (powered speakers)

Welcome.

Best is very subjective, but for starters i'd likely choose the Klipschs over the Edifiers.
Does the CD have digital outputs? Does the TT have both phono out and line out?

I guess there are two main questions you're asking:
- whether you should route the TT and CD via the ultra
- whether you should have the parasound preamp in the chain

Pros with routing via the the ultra: the TT (and cd?) analog input will be digitised, allowing for EQ etc. to be applied.
Cons with routing via the ultra: the TT (and cd?) analog input will be digitised ;)

As for the preamp, from other posts here some have found they prefered the sound without their preamp in between their wiim and amp.

We haven't touched on convenience here yet.
e.g. does the old amp have a remote? (Possibly too old for such radical technology!)
Routing everything via the ultra, along with its auto input switching, may give you simpler switching and volume control.

So, the summary of my "advice" is really for you to try a few options for yourself and see which makes the music most enjoyable / useable for you.

Good advice from @Mr Ee (of course).

And have two set of speaker options.

Regarding the speaker options, would you want to use them both alternatively or do you want to make a permanent choice?

Why are you considering the WiiM Ultra at all? What's the most important expected benefit for you? Depending on what exactly you are after either a WiiM Pro Plus might just be good enough or the WiiM Ultra could be replacing your vintage receiver when using active speakers.
