Option for selecting AirPlay 1 protocol

AirPlay 2 downscales a lossless (ALAC) file to AAC 256 kbps. I can witness this on my WiiM app when streaming ALAC files from my Mac Mini.
If WiiM had an option to select AirPlay 1, the signal would pass through unaltered.

I think there’s little or no chance of this being implemented. Perhaps users should press Apple to develop a proper casting mechanism like those deployed by Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music and soon(ish) Qobuz where a full resolution stream is delivered direct to the end device without first passing thru your phone.

When I stream from my Mac to WiiM via airplay, my iPhone acts as an Apple Music remote only with the Remote app. The WiiM as Airplay recipient is chosen within Apple Music settings and the signal goes directly from Mac to WiiM.
Before WiiM, I used an AirPort Express at the stereo.
