Does anyone have an authoritive statement on the best strategy for gain-staging with all these options?
I am assuming both pre-gain adjustments and volume limits are attenuating/boosting the signal in the digital domain before any actual pre-amplification of the analog signal via line out. I am also assuming that the output voltage defines the maximum amplification at the analog line out, in any and all cases AFTER pre-gain and volume adjustments. Please correct me if I am mistaken.
My primary WiiM Pro+ usage is whole house audio, most of the time background music that people are talking over, but occasionally with some more focused rocking-out with the volume up. Between my amp gain (Emotiva A4 in this instance) and sensitive speakers (KEF Ci200MR) to achieve a reasonable volume at 2v output at max WiiM volume I have set the volume limiter at 50%.
Would it be better for me to drop the output voltage and loosen the volume restriction?
At the end it's all output voltage, right(?)
What's the best approach here?
Thanks for your time.
