Play history

I love the search history.

When I am at my house, I see the search history for my house. When I go to a friend's with wiim it greys out the search history from my house, but highlights search history I have done there.

Sometimes I go to someone's home who doesn't have a wiim, and I want to remember something I played, but no history shows up and I really wish it did.

It appears that the search history is kept on my phone and not on each wiim device, because all search history shows up on the phone, with some greyed out depending on which wiim device I am connected to.

So my request is can the search history always be shown (as greyed out) when the app is not in contact with any wiim device? That would be great!

Here the WiiM team makes an interesting statement.

They do not mention search history, but if this happens your request may be fulfilled.😄

Thanks! I hope so!

I realize I interchanged the terms "play history" and "search history". I don't know the correct term. I am not looking for anything that isn't already displayed when in the presence of a wiim machine I am linked to. I just want it to be there whenever I open the app even if not connected to a wiim.

That said, I read the mentioned thread and am I to understand that the lists I see are pass throughs for in my case Amazon? Then I could see why wiim might not be able to display the list I guess. It's all pretty confusing. So, I never use the Amazon music app to search for music. Only through the wiim. I did open my Amazon music app thinking the play history might be there, but I can't find anything. Only on the wiim.

By "play history" do you mean "Recently Played" that appears under presets in the favorites menu?

If I'm not mistaken, the Recently Played and Recent searches are saved per phone.

This is the Recently Played that appears on my Phone A and Tablet B. Regardless of the WiiM device that is playing, A and B have different lists.

Unfortunately, it is currently impossible to view this list unless the phone is connected to the same network as the WiiM.

So the only option is to tap "See All" on the right side of Recently played and take a screenshot of the list screen before going out to a friend's house..😅

Here is a summary of where each list is stored.

1) Data stored per WiiM device
Favorites > Presets

2) Data specific to streaming services
Favorites > (Songs, Artists, Albums, Playlists)

3) Data stored per phone (app)
Favorites > Recently played
Search > Recent searches

To be precise, I don't know where the "3" is stored, I couldn't find it by looking file in the app. (Maybe there is a way to find it...?)

I hope @WiiM Team will provide import/export or sync capabilities for these lists in the near future. 😄

Wow! Thanks for that answer.

I am not an advanced user. Very Electrical and mechanically inclined but pretty much a cripple with anything computerized. It's a curse.

I to not know how to create playlists or favorites yet. Wish I did!

I am only connected to Amazon on my wiim. I do all my searching through the wiim device. It is primarily the "search" history that I want to see when I am not connected to a wiim device.

My friends have Amazon playlists they have created that they have linked my wiim app to. I locate them under the "browse" link. Those lists also only show up when I am connected to a wiim device, but less important to me to be able to see (although it would be nice) when the app is not connected to a wiim.

Unfortunately, you cannot create Amazon music playlists on the WiiM app; you must create a list of your favorites in the Amazon Music app.

Tap the "+" icon in the track list to add the track to My Music.

Tracks added to My Music will appear in the "Recently added" section of your library.

One way to do this is to add more and more tracks you like, and create a playlist with the tracks you have collected. Of course, you can also add tracks directly to your playlist. 😄

Tap the 3-dot icon for an album or track

(You can also add all tracks to My Music by tapping the "+" icon of an album or playlist)

Tap "Add to Playlist"

You can add tracks by creating a new playlist or tapping on an already created playlist.

It is not difficult once you get used to it.😄
