The best thing to do is to try it for yourself.

Turn the Prompt Sound on in the app, and then select Reboot.

You should hear the Prompt Sound when the Ultra has rebooted.

These are announcement and notification sounds from the system. You can turn them off, but you can also leave them on. I guess this feature was added after complaints about loud sounds.

So that’s the “whoooooomp” sound I was hearing yesterday from my subwoofer. I thought it was my new subwoofer acting up. When I hit the reboot on ultra I heard it again.

I have it turned off on my devices, as it can be slightly annoying when they reboot in the early hours of the morning.

That’s not the sound I’m hearing when I reboot. I disabled the sound and I’m still hearing something from my subwoofer when powering the ultra on or a reboot.

I don't know anything about a sound from your subwoofer, perhaps if you say what make and model it is, someone else may have an idea.

First try plugging the subwoofer cable back in. And you can try changing the cable. Also check that there is no contact between the sub cable and the power cable.

I just uploaded a video of the sound. When the sound comes on reboot it's perfectly timed to the wiim logo animation on the ultra screen.

I’m so embarrassed totally user error. I had my red and white cable going from the sub and then plugged the other end into sub out and coax out. When I removed the white side from the coax out the sound stopped.

However I still don’t know what the prompt sound is lol. I’ve never heard it.

I just uploaded a video of the sound. When the sound comes on reboot it's perfectly timed to the wiim logo animation on the ultra screen.

There seems to be a frog in your subwoofer.

I understood the steps. Even when enabled. I have no startup / prompt sound.

Press the play button on the volume knob for 3 seconds and the WiiM girl will gently tell you that you are entering 'set-up mode'.

I used to get an annoying sound whenever I powered up my WiiM Amp. This stopped when I connected it by ethernet instead of WiFi. I used to get the same sound when a Bluetooth device connected as well. I assume that was the Prompt sound.

That might be why you don't hear it then, all of my WiiM devices are using WiFi.
