s/pdif to optical converter?

I can't be bothered with my phone and would rather use my remote. The Wiim remote (nice as it is) is not up to the job in my living room.

So I have 2 options. The Emby app on my web os TV that is connected to the Ultra via HDMI. But the TV resamples everything to 16\48 before it reaches the Ultra. I think it's based on Android.

Or, I have a Sony blueray/cd/dsd player that has upnp. I can browse my upnp server on it via the TV. It has another output (specifically to avoid the TV resampling if used for audio only) but it's s/pdif. It will plug in my arcam amp, which sounds great by the way, but not my Ultra so I can't get any of the wiimy roomfity goodness.

So what should I do?

Buy something that will convert the s/pdif output into optical?

Or just stop.

Stop and accept the limitations of my current setup?

Actually address the perceived inadequacies, the underlying resentments and the deep seated fears that I'm clearly masking with this continuous and incessant obsession to achieve some sort of audio setup Nirvana?

If the answer is the latter; resampled and roomfitted? Or original and unaltered?

Or, if the answer is the former, what should I buy? <-----(this is what I'm actually asking)

Thanks :)

A listing of your gear would be good, as it is difficult to read, and what you're trying to do. Stereo, multi channel etc.

The blueray player has these outputs

HDMI Output (s): 2 (Rear) ,Coaxial Audio Output (s): 1 (Rear)

I'm already using the HDMI input on the ultra for my TV (which is also connected to the blueray player).

If I play my collection of stereo flac audio files through my TV they get resampled by the TV before reaching the Wiim.

There is one of those orange coax outputs on the blueray player which is currently plugged into my arcam A5 (as is the Wiim).

I was wondering whether or not it was worth my while purchasing a gizmo that will let me plug the blueray player into the Wiim via the optical input using the orange coax output or leave it as it is.

And if it is worth it what sort\make\spec gizmo to get

Plug Wiim into the Arcam via optical or coaxial, or via analogue. Only use the Wiim for audio streaming
Plug the BD player HDMI into TV, then either use HDMI ARC or optical, from TV to the Wiim for TV/Movie watching. Or go BD player optical/coaxial into the Arcma

Ok, that's a good rule. "Only use the Wiim for audio streaming".

My record player and cassette deck are plugged straight into the arcam rather than via the Wiim so I'm already following it :)

Thanks

you could also use the second HDMI output - I presume it's audio only. Either way you're not going to get discrete audio bitsteam or LFE subwoofer channel.
