Sonos Gen1 amp confusion

I have an Ultra with Turntable and tv plugged in, I also have a Sonos amp and Sonos connect gen 1
The problem starts as the Sonos amp powers ceiling speakers and is placed in an almost inaccessible place as speaker cables are buried in the walls on top of kitchen units! Also it is about 8m with a wooden floor and a wall away from the ultra’s position.
I can use it by connecting Ultra out to Sonos connect in and that then links wirelessly with amp and plays the source material.
This is workable but I really would like a cleaner solution as using both apps all the time is tiresome, and there is also small gaps in audio at random times.

Would a win amp up there sort out the mess?

Welcome.
A wiim amp to replace both the sonos would work, yes. It'd also be a win ;) (I'm sure someone will get it.)
One concern I still have with such a setup is tv lip sync delay.
When wiims are in a group, as the ultra and amp would be, it introduces a delay. Not a problem at all for music, but for tv audio input it is, last time I tried it at least, unwatchable. I know this is being worked on, but I don't think the low latency grouping has come out of beta testing yet.

Thankyou
so do they work as a group and will the Dac be used from the ultra and the amp a mere water carrier?
The lip sync is not too much of an issue as I have an amp and speakers attached to Ultra and will only use ceiling speakers it for football when I wander round pulling my hair out.

You group the two wiims in the wiim app and the amp will play whatever the ultra is playing. The amp will use its own DAC.
Obviously (I hope!) you can also use the two completely independently and play different content to both wiims.

Ok, I know I won't be able to tell the difference but that's not the point, so you wouldn't be able to use the better Dac from the ultra to play audio to amp.

Correct.
Even if you ran a long analog cable to the amp it'd still convert that to digital, do any processing required, such as eq, volume, and then use the amp's dac.
