If all speakers are grouped together and playing music, it would be great to have the option to hit pause (PHISICAL BUTTON) on one speaker and have playback just pause on that one speaker instead of pausing playback on all speakers.

Like if someone walks into a room to use the phone, hit pause (PHISICAL BUTTON) on speaker and not stop the music for the entire group.

I'm big on using the actual physical buttons.

In the group device card, tab the small speaker on the device you want to mute.

Ok. You didn't define what devices you were referring to. Speakers can be connected to any WiiM device.
Correct, but hitting pause on one speaker in one particular room stops playback everywhere which is not desired if everyone is listening to music.

I guess unless the expected behavior would be to hold the volume button down to lower it but a simple tap of the pause would be more practical.

Another thread complain about that the speakers in a (stereo) group wirks individually. Not easy to do both

I still don't know what speakers. A10 or C10 MKII WiiM Edition?

Yes, but these are smart speakers. They put all the effort into room correction, Amazon/Google, etc.... but then the most basic, common sense features are overlooked....

These are all Audio Pro speakers, 2 WiiM edition A10's and three Audio Pro Non WiiM speakers. The behavior is the same across all of them.

My position is that its great to use the physical buttons that Audio Pro went through the trouble of adding to their speakers. Some of us actually like to use them, not everyone is my home is surgically attached to their phones so actual physical interaction with the speaker is a positive thing :)

I will suggest you raise a ticket to WiiM and explain what feature you are looking for.

There are several other threads about the use of the buttons on the speakers in the forum

Is there a power button on the speakers. If there is what happens if you turn it off? Do the other speakers continue playing?

Still nothing wrong with letting the community rate your proposal first. And this is the right place to do so for the app and things potentially affecting multiple devices.

So far the upvote count is zero.

Well this does work, it shuts down and obviously stops playback.

I guess I'm viewing this from a different prospective from everyone else. If I was in my office listening to music through my computer or from my phone and a call came in, my natural response would be to pause playback, not shut down the computer or turn off the phone. For me, the same procedure would apply to a smart speaker.

Does it rejoin the group when turned on again? Obviously completely powering down isn't ideal, I thought it might have a "soft" off like Squeezeboxes. Then a device in a synchronised group could easily leave and rejoin the group using the power button.

It seems to power back on & reconnect quicker than I expected (a few seconds).
