Hi everyone, I have an Airplay 1 based DAC (integrated Airport Express) and am wondering if there is any way I can use a Wiim Pro to stream to it? I know it supports Airplay 2 but maybe someone has figured out a workaround?

If not I'd be also very interested to hear suggestions for alternatives. I am using LMS with Airplay Bridge at the moment but I'd love to be able to use a Wiim Pro with Spotify connect and Tidal connect as well as the optical input for my TV signal.

As advised here and elsewhere, please raise a ticket direct to WiiM if you wish to discuss this further.

Edit: looking at the spec of the airplay express, I can't see anyway of integrating it with WiiM, past nor present, nor indeed future

WiiM devices are Airplay receivers, not transmitters
This confuses me. I'm looking at page 19 of the manual that says "However, the WiiM Amp is capable of transmitting its audio input to AirPlay-compatible
speakers." I did hear that an update rolled out which may have disabled this feature though? Is that the reason for the discrepancy?

Yes, it is. If you have further questions regarding this topic you better send feedback to WiiM from within the WiiM Home app directly, asking for options. There will be no further public discussion in this forum, as far as I understand.

The AirPort Express was/is the original AirPlay receiver. From any iOS device or using the first generation Apple TV (which had a pre-streaming hard disk) it allows lossless streaming either using its own DAC or via its optical out. I see no reason why it would not have worked with WiiM devices prior to their AirPlay transmitter functionality being removed.

If it is an Airport Express 2 with the latest firmware, then it it is an Airplay 2 target and hence it does not accept lossless streaming from any IOS device, but only lossy AAC.
