Dear Wiimers, I'm considering buying Wiim Ultra and i have a question about the subout connection.
I have two "sets" for tv, active speakers and subwoofer, for stereo listening passive speakers, power amp and separate DAC. I don't want to use subwoofer with these.

The question is...is it possible with Wiim Ultra to connect active speakers/sub for line-out/subout and bypass the subout for the external DAC with optical out?

Both "sets" would use the same signal source optical in.

The idea behind this is to use Wiim Ultra as a media player for the external DAC and also media player for the line-out/subout(active speakers/sub)

Currently you’d need to disable the sub out in ten app when you switched to optical, and back in when you use line out.

The upcoming smart preset feature may facilitate that if it includes the sub setting, although at the moment it is tied to preset content but I guess you could have a dummy playlist (maybe even silent) as a workaround.

After a little thought, could this issue be solved using USB-out, not the toslink for external DAC(which has usb input).
I have seen posts where people are saying that the subout does not work with Ultras USB connection?

That's correct, been known since WiiM released devices with sub out and USB. However, WiiM have said they're working on allowing the use of USB and sub out
